Default Anybody know why...

is it that even if you have the temp set at 90F, as soon as you turn the fan control on anywhere from AUTO to min or max, the damn A/C light goes on? Does it actually turn on the A/C? It's the only thing that annoys me...that and the seatbelt light

wear your seat belt.

*steps off soap box*

yeah, mine does that and it bothers me too. though, you can always just push the button and "turn off" the ac.

AC is "air conditioner" doesnt mean it has to be cold, by running that the air is dehumidified, then reheated if you are having heat. you should always run AC regaurdless of it its hot or cold. otherwise you'll fog your windows up.

Cool. Didn't know you could use the A/C as a dehumifier for hot air.

Do you by any chance know how much power on the motor we loose with our A/C's?

but isn't there a slight difference in power when it's on?

i especially notice it when the cold ac is running. but i think it's there when the "hot ac" is on too. who knows, maybe i'm just imagining it, mind over matter, right? heh

you dont' really lose that much with the AC on, probably not even enough to norice during normal, sane driving

try this; find a long, open stretch of vacant roadway, turn on your AC compressor and adjust the fan so that you can feel the cold air coming out... now, floor it and accelerate as fast as you can on that vacant strecth of road...

you will notice as you accelerate the cold air becomes warm.... your car knows you are looking for all the power you can muster, so it cycles off the AC compressor

once you are at normal cruising speeds, the AC compressor will cycle on and start making cold air again

You lose alot with the AC on. Its a fact. Dyno proven; when I had my GT (a/c also got warm when floored as if it turned off) I lost 7 rwhp and like 8ft-lbs...Couldnt believe it took that much power away. I can feel the difference in my Z with the A/C on and off. You feel it the most when flooring it from a stop, and top end. When I race the A/C gets turned off, along with radio, etc....

No! the reason the a/c begins to blow hot air is because the car is going so fast that it begins to "tear" through the air molecules hence splitting the molecules and creating a form of energy. If you are able to glance behind you you will notice fire as far back as you can see. - All true

Even if the A/C takes 7 whp away... I don't really care about it on street.....
When on the track or when I'm racing, the A/C will be OFF for sure... other than that, while I cruise around, the A/C is always on

I like to play with *****, so I'd actually pay more for manual AC controlls. I wish it were an option.

Mine is stock and it has an option, I think, maybe not sure what your talking about. If you depress the middle of the ****, it will turn the "A/C" function off, but not the air.

Is that what you mean?
