are our cars going to be worth anything in 20 years?
I didn't drive it that much shortly before the turbo install anyway. Just on the weekends, and every now and then to work.
If you want to look at it in a technical kind of way. Then perhaps if the 350 Z is going to be worth any money. It would have to be stock or as close to as possible. Meaning No FI, or anything crazily done in that type of manner.
But regardless of the smart people out there that understand that. There is always some person with money burning in there pocket with that itch to spend. Those kinds of people will spend anything for the things they want. Specially if you butter it up.

It is likely the 350z will be something like the 280zx, somewhat desirable but so many around that it's not worth anything in particular. Probably the first 10 Zs made from each model and the Nismos will be worth more.
The 300zx was very cult popular (still is), but used cars are 20 years old are worth only $10K or so. You can snap up a low miles 350z from 12K+ already and didn't have to wait 20 years.

There is one thing that we certainly have in our favor, and that is the lines. A classic coupe with a long nose and a cabin set aft--for whatever reason this has proven a particularly pleasing design for cars over the years. Think of the classics you lust over--most probably have this design. No gimmicks. I love the way an Sti looks, but it won't age well. Our Z's probably will. I happen to think that our Z's will be in the final generation of simple, straightforward, petrol run internal-combustion, manual clutch non-computer controlled sports cars (with all of the faults and strengths of that design). This will be appealing in the future, although 20 years may be a bit soon. The aesthetics of the car are timeless, and although it is mass produced, there will be some demand further down the road. The strength of this community is a testament to these cars. Most of us love our Z cars, and we'll pass that on. Remember what you felt when you first saw one? It's not just any car on the road.
I agree with what you said mostly, but I think the issue is that the 350z doesn't give me that squishy timeless feel. The 240z did, and the last gen 300zx did. The 370z is much much closer to it. The 370 is really doing everything better (power, weight, shape, lines) so I predict it will eclipse the 350z in time as the nicer car. Disclaimer: I own a 350z.
Lol I understand that for some people on this thread a Z will be or is the nicest car they own and they put it on a pedestal, but no lol this car will not become a classic in any way. But if u want to argue that 350's have a chance then I would have to argue the 370 has a better chance.
at the rate people are crashing them. Mine will be.
But from a vehicle that shares its engine with many others only thing that would stand out is the body style. So i highly doubt it.

No, they wont be worth anything because the 370z is better than the 350z in every way, any everyone is going to remember that car instead. Probably like how only people that owned a 300z back in the 80's are the only people today that know that that car is. Everyone remembers the 280z's and the 300zx's, but not the frumpy 300z.
