Default How reliable is a 2005 350Z?

I am pre-approved for a car loan and now I am searching for a reliable sports car.

I currently have a 2005 Mazda RX-8 and I am tired of driving rental cars. lol

The reason I decided to buy a 2005 is because the low mileage 2005's in my area are in my price range.

Do I have anything major to worry about? I obviously will not have a warranty for a 2005 so I want to make sure I am not getting into another money pit.

Thanks!

Hmm.. so there is either not much action in this section, or my question is too boring to get a response? lol

I'm not totally sure about this, but I believe the '05 model is the one with the fewest complaints.

03-04 = tire feathering
06 = oil consumption
07-08 = clutch sticking

It's like just about any other vehicle: if it's taken care of it will last. Plenty of people have over 100k on theirs and I know at least one of them is running nitrous. My 06 "oil burner" has 48k-ish, running 125 shot for the past 7k, no mechanical issues thus far.

Btw, if you stick around these forums, your car *will* become a money pit. Just sayin'...

So far my 05 has had a clutch master go out, and thats it. Till tomorrow its still on original tires with 58k. My 03, had a trans swapped at 40k and thats really about it. Gets raced hard, daily driven and now has 120k on it.

Factory battery finally died @55k miles.
No problems or costly maintenance issues. Just the regular oil changes.

101k miles on my 2005, still running strong.
The tranny was replace at about 60k miles just because he could with his warranty. I drift mine as well and have had no problems at all.

As long as you feel confident in the way the previous owner(s) treated it and you take care of it as well, it should prove to be a highly reliable and very fun car

I have an 05 with 38k miles and I have 0 problems, and yes you can get an extended bumper to bumper warranty which i recommend. Its so cheap now a days that if a window switch for power windows or anything goes out it covers it the first time.

my friend complains alot about his Z mainly because of clutch problems. he had about 50k miles at the time. i told him it's probably the master cylinder.

i dont really understand the question?

obviously no one can predict how reliable a car is going to be just based on the year.. it depends on the mileage and how well the previous owner(s) took care of it.
