350z was in a wreck previous to me buying
I got the letter sitting on my desk today from my dealer. He and I know each other so I'll probably send a letter back jerking his chain over the offer.
UPDATE:
I took it to the Nissan Body shop, (talked to a very nice russian man)
He checked out the car and did some length tests for the wheels and he said it looks OK from an alignment point of view, (meaning it will go through the alignment machine, w/o having to fix the frame)
(The right side of the rear bumper is flared in a little bit, he said there are probably some bolts and clips missing) So hopefully that part is just a cosmetic issue.
He thinks something hit the rear bumper (right behind the rear right tire) and it crushed some of the sheet metal, and possibly some bolts.
He also fixed the noise coming from my hatch, it turns out the hatch connection was missing a bolt, so he put one in there and now the hatch closes fine and no more loud hatch noise while driving.
So basically I am taking it in on Tuesday to have him remove the rear bumper and see if he can replace some bolts and get it fixed up, and then also get it re-aligned just to make sure the alignment is all good.

Carfax is full of holes, at least in my limited experience. My wife bought a used Acura TSX from CarMax a few years ago. When we got it home, I put it on jack stands to do all the fluid changes, and noticed the underside of the car covered in overspray. Both the front and rear had been hit, the bumper covers were cheaply repaired with epoxy from the inside, and I found some wrinkles in the front end of the frame. So, not only wasn't the damage reported to Carfax, but CarMax, who make a huge deal over "inspecting" all the cars they take in, is full of ****, too. No way they could have missed any of this if they had looked at the car on a lift, as the overspray was bright red. The next day the TSX went back, and driving by later in the week, I saw it was still on their lot for sale.
When you buy a used car, you'd better be careful, and if you're not, it's no one's fault but your own. When she later bought a TL Type S, I had the Acura dealer throw it on a lift and I inspected it myself for crash damage. It had only 14K miles on it, so the other stuff was covered by warranty and I didn't do much of a mechanical inspection.

sounds like a good prognosis for your Z...
as for Carfax... yeah it should be criminal to conduct business like they do. There's so many holes in their gimmick it's not even funny. Not only that but the actual covering they offer isn't nearly as good as they make it sound. You buy a car and it ends up being all jacked up but was never titled as a total or salvage, etc you're screwed. They pretty much offer a guarantee that sounds good and reassuring but actually isn't going to help anyone which is why they can offer it w/ their shoddy system. truth be told there is no way to check a car other than self inspection and mechanic inspection prior to purchase. CarFax is a JOKE!
