Sorry to hear about your accident.

I dont think this thing will be totaled. Get ready for that $500 deductible.

The tires only have 15K miles on them. The only difference I noticed with the plenum was a decrease in running temp.

The reason I'm guessing it's totaled is because the seat alone is going to cost around 3K, gotta replace the whole headliner. The frame is bent in the impact area, so it's not just outer body damage (the left mount for the air-box is off it's mounting point by 1/2 inch). the car is an '03 touring with 20.1K miles, so I'm guessing the AMV (average market value) is around 14-15K taking into account pre-collision condition and where I live. If they estimate the repair is going to be around 10-11K the insurance company will probably total the car because of unforeseen costs. My guess is it's about 15K in damage if you want to return the car to pre collision condition.

As for insurance I currently pay 400 a year, I'm guessing it will be a 40% increase after the claim, unless I can somehow convince first accident forgiveness. But i don't see that happening seeing as most insurance companies are blood suckers.

I know it doesn't look that way, but I wasn't going more than 30 and I'm guessing a reduction in speed of a few MPH while i was sliding. The thing is I hit a huge tree that didn't move at all, so all the give had to come from the car. I don't know what type of tree it is, but the part of the trunk i hit had this massive vertical root thing sticking out of the trunk that put a lot of energy into that one spot on the car. The tree itself is about 8 feet thick

Option on any model.

Look at the A-pillar to see if it has an "SRS" -- or even easier is to check whether the seat has a side airbag.

Damn, another one bites the dust.

This is sad that it's happening more often nowadays, slow down in the rain people.

So after the crash, and many hour of meditation on a high mountain top, I figured there was only one logical conclusion...
