I really like the nav. Here are some cool features -
1. Easier to navigate the menus than the mercedes system (only one I have really played with
2. Very cool 3-d view
3. It does have an address book
4. The restriction on entering addresses while driving, a big plus for safety. If you do have the address preloaded into memory, that is accesible while driving.
5. It switches to a 2-d view when you are close to a turn or intersection that is related to you getting to your destination. In this view it has a descending distance counter, i.e. .5 miles -> 500 ft -> 400 ft, etc.
6. It looks cool
7. It has an engine diagnostic tool, letting you see how much further for maintenance such as oil changes
There are probably more items, but I havent played around with it that much yet.

Cheers,
Tubbs

Whats ********, the fact that you can't play DVDs on the factory system or that DVD really does stand for that?

It would have been nice if they could have integrated that some how. I was under the impression that you could play DVD movies, but once again never assume anything.... Lesson learned, but I still want it, movies or no movies

To me, its stupid to even ask why it can't play DVD movies!! I would think the answer would be pretty obvious to most people.

There is no car currently on the market that plays movies for the front seats. Obviously it is illegal while driving. I did read something about it coming in the 2004 Cadillac XLR. Not sure though. Still, why would anyone want to watch a DVD movie in the front seat of a car?

Am I the only moron who can't figure out how to access the address book?

If I go to settings>navigation, the only options I have are "View" and "Heading". In the manual, it says this is where the address book should be. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

I was able to enter my home address when I first started up the system at the dealer, but I don't remember how I did it. Maybe I'll try removing the DVD and putting it back in.

Disregard, I just figured it out. I had to turn off Short Menus.

I think its pretty amazing, the technology that they can put into cars these days!!! Think, if you were to ask your grandfather or father their idea of navigation when they were kids, it'd have been a round suction-cupped compass stuck to the dash or windshield!!!

OK guys that have the Nav----

Is the voice that talks to you come from your car speakers? I am putting new speakers in when I get my car and was wondering if it would still work.
