Anyone shipped a y pipe via USPS parcel post? If so, how much did you pay and where did you ship from/to? I heard some of the shippers at USPS are really **** and won't let me ship exhaust components via Parcel Post?

Fedex costs $70 just to ship it and I'm just bubble wrapping it and putting cardboard over it, UPS even more expensive...

USPS won't ship that.

Edit: I stand corrected. I just looked on their website and it seems that they may be willing to ship it if you can fit it within their dimension constraints.

I shipped my HKS replica exhaust, including the H pipe via USPS. Just put it in a box that optimizes space since every inch incurs higher cost. Shipping should be no more than $60 or so.

This past summer I received an exhaust system for one of my Alfa Spiders from a vendor. It was shipped UPS with just a label taped to each of the two pieces. The front/mid section of that system is maybe 7 feet long, with the muffler/tailpipe maybe 3 feet. I can't imagine a 350Z y-pipe would be any different. Are you dealing with UPS or the USPS directly, or are you going to one of those storefronts that ships for you, like the "UPS Store" or Mailboxes etc."? Those places will take you to the cleaners.

Both UPS and USPS have sites you can log on to and print your own labels.

I'm looking directly from the USPS website. Here's the link to the quote:

The raw dimension of the y pipe is 37x31x4.. I suppose with bubble wrap + cardboard, it'll be 39x33x6.

Try Greyhound! I shipped a frontend guard off a H2 Hummer from NC to Fl last year. It's over 7' long and weights about 30 lbs. It cost me $35 and it arrived in 36 hours. I also shipped a kayak that way, $44 for an 800 mile trip!

I bought an XYZ with resonator from a member here. He wrapped it in bubble wrap and saran wrap with clear tape and taped the label to it. Arrived perfect and I am sure was cheaper to ship.
