The low down on this "Track" test is as goes...

Top Gear were only given the 350Z by Nissan Motors GB for one day - that day it was raining cats & dogs all day...

The only other time Top Gear had a 350Z was about a year ago & the car was a JDM import (slower than the UK spec)

The Top Gear presenter hates the 350Z & has slagged it off on numerous occassions - he has also misquoted many of the facts & specifications of the 350Z over the last year...

RX8 was tested on a bone dry track & the time posted took a lot of attempts (the car was on the ragged edge)

There is also a lot of conspiracy theories going around to do with Ford owned companies & the host - I'll leave you to investigate that...

I remember reading an article by that puke some time ago and I agree he is totally biased against the Z for some reason....after owning both vehicles I would have a hard time believing that an RX-8 could hang with a Z on any track with equal drivers...

 

He's biased against anything that doesn't cost over $100k

As I stated earlier however one of the mags here did a comparison between a few cars. Two of those was the 350Z and the RX-8. Same professional driver, same day. The Zed was 0.1 secs faster lap time. This is on a "handling" track BTW. Fairly small with a few tight corners.

Best motoring test the RX8 with DC5, Miata, Skyline(G35), WRX, and S2000. RX8 was 2nd to last. Does RX8 in UK turbo charged, or the test driver forgot to turn off the VDC on the Z?

 

Similar comparison was done here by Motor Magazine IIRC and a professional driver. The RX-8 had a lap time 0.1 seconds slower than the Zed.

Hmmm, what comparo arfe you refering to? Is it the one from April issue (ie. BFYB article). It that is so, then the time difference between the RX8 and 350Z was closer to 1sec and there was (less than) 0.1sec difference between the M3 and 350Z. The times clocked by Camerron McConville (ie. pro driver) were:
- 350Z Track = 1:11.97
- e46 M3 SMG = 1:12.00
- RX8 = 1:12.68

Does this video-clip have footage of the 350Z completing the timed lap? I've already downloaded one of these and it only had the RX8 footage and reference to the 350Z at the end.

hehe, we are talking about the same test ... though the 'rally' driver was Rick Bates :-) And in that case the times I posted before are from that track-test.

So the difference was 0.71 seconds. Still pretty good IMO.
