If your Bose SUCKS, what's your VIN?
Some owners are not experiencing the Bose problems while everyone who is says THE EXACT SAME THING. I'm sorry, but I can't let this go and I want it fixed. Just trying to build a case here.
I'll bet there's a range of:
(A) Improperly wired cars
(B) Bad head units.

Mine is 0001xx. My subwoofer is buzzing with distortion whenever there is a low note. I have to turn the bass down all the way and moderate volume just to listen to something. So the sound is as good as a cheap boombox with no bass. What's your symptom.
Hmm, looks like I'm completely off-base with my assumptions...
Mine has the volume up and down problem even when the car is completely shut off, sitting in the driveway. Say I set the volume to "7". Within 15-20 seconds the volume goes up considerably and I turn it down to "4". Another 15-20 seconds and the volume goes up AGAIN without my touching anything! If I turn it up to "11" (hehe Spinal Tap) the bass will come on REALLY THICK while the rest of the frequencies drop out and then it (the bass) falls off again. Furthermore, between breaks in any given song (a part where all instruments stop for a couple of counts) the volume drops completely and rises again.
I simply cannot listen to music under those conditions! I know what the songs are supposed to sound like and this stereo is killing me!

droidekaus,
That is exactly what mine is doing. This is truly a problem with the system and not that we are just unhappy with the sound.
I've felt embarrassed when I've had people in the car. They look at the stereo and the subwoofer and are expecting it to sound great, then it starts doing all that crazy sh*t.
I'm really hoping that Nissan is aware of the problem and will come up with a fix. If not, hopefully someone who know's something about car audio (certainly not me) will come up with a work around.

SAME PROBLEM HERE.
Bose sucks - muddy sound, had to turn BASS to -5, midrange cuts out, it really sucks on FM, CD, etc. - Worst car stereo I've ever heard.
I can't WAIT for nissan to correct this -
I've bought a new HeadUnit, ripping out all speakers, sub-woofer,
etc. - bought new amps, head units, totally gutted the car.
I'd like money back from Nissan.

Yes, I added a 10" bazooka tube, RS Series amplified.. I can definately feel it, & my rearview mirror is almost worthless because of the vibration of the whole car.. But it sounds tight, to me now..
Yes, that is the only modification that I made to my QX4, & my '90 300ZX & my '92 300ZX, I used the same amplified 10" Bazooka tube. With my '94 300ZX convertible, that required a little work, especially since there is only 2 door speakers in the car & such limited space.

I talked to NNA today. There will be a TSB issued to dealers at the end of this month or beginning of November. At that time the service department will be able to order a new amp for the Z. You have to complain to your service department and a fix will be ordered for your vehicle specifically. Call 1-800-NISSAN-1 and register your complaint now.
