Default anyway to find out info about your z?

I am a new owner of a 06 Z. I assume it is a base model however I was looking at my paperwork from the dealer and they had is listed as an enthusiast. I don't think it is though because it doesn't have Cruz or traction. It has the homelink mirror though.

What rear end do I have? Can I swap in a LSD rear end?

Is it possible to add traction control?

Thanks

No buttons on the steering wheel = base. The Homelink mirror is an easy, and useful, upgrade.

If it is a track, it will have 6 spd, no leather seats, but it WILL have VDC/LSD and Brembos.

Biggest problem now and days is that there are a lot of Fraken-Zs out there. Mix and match of parts

You can check out the vin number. It tells you everything about the car

can you just purchase a lsd and swap it in or do you need to do anything special?

VIN does not tell you the model of the Z.

Pick VSD, buy LSD, install LSD. Simple and easy.

Pick LSD, what kind fits your needs and goals. I went OS Giken for mine.
By LSD, find a suppplier that knows their parts. I used Z1auto to get mine, they also supplied me with the new seals, bearing and ring gear bolts to do the install
Install. Home install if you know what your doing, Drop the car off at a shop to install if your completely clueless. What i did, i removed the 3rd member and dropped it off at the local driveline shop.

That's a typical dealer tactic. Probably 50% of dealers know they are doing it and 50% are too stupid to know which model they have. It is always BUYER BEWARE. It allows them to show you the Kelly Blue Book and say, "See, it really is worth 81 meeeelion dollars" since they priced it as an enthusiast when it is really a base. They did the same thing when I bought our Titan. KBB also allows them to add options that are STANDARD on a model, i.e. the touring comes with a Bose stereo, yet they can also ADD "premium sound" as an add-on to make the price look higher and "fair". They are scam artists, so it's up to us as buyers to know more than they do.

At the end of the day, you still got an awesome car, you just overpaid for it.
