Default Would I need Clutch?

I test drove a 2004 350z earlier today. Never been in an accident [or at least reported] and looks very nice for its year, alson considering the fact that it has 60k miles.

I am very close to putting a closure on the loan but just would like to know how to determine if your Z needs a new clutch. I use to drive a standard SUV but not sure if the cluch feels any different from that of a 350z. I noticed that the clutch was releasing at the top. Is this typical feel for this car/clutch? Everything is bone stock.

Are there any common problems that might throw up a red flag when looking at this car?

Appreciate it,
Ken

Put it in 5th or 6th gear at a complete stop and slowly let the clutch pedal up. If it stalls the clutch is probably good. Short of some abuse tactics to determine if the clutch slips you would have to take the transmission out to inspect it all.

Okay Ill give that a go. When the cluctch is being released... roughly at what point [I]should[I] it stall? More towards the top of of it being released?

Its common for Z's to have higher than normal release points when compared to other cars.

Agree. The clutch engagement point may be high. No big deal. For some reason Nissan gives the clutch lots of travel.
