996 C2 owner praises the Z.
The story goes like this...
Heading out to get a bite to eat, I notice the unmistakeable silhouette of a 996 in the last fragments of twilight about 100 yards in front of me. We're both moving at around the same pace and slowly approaching an intersection. The 996 gets the jump to turn right while I get stuck at the light. As I'm sitting there, I see a god-awful first-gen Eclipse roll past with a HUGE park bench wing making a break to catch the C2 and shortly thereafter I jump into traffic making my own break for the Eclipse who's following the C2.
Now this kid must have been pretty stupid as I can see he starts to toy with the C2 and box him in, not allowing him to get around an SUV. The C2 tucks in behind the Eclipse, passes the SUV and punches it, slipping by effortlessly. Not one to only watch all of the fun, I drop it back down into forth, ease into the throttle and blow past the Pep Boys Ricer who's fart pipe is SCREAMING as I whiz by in pursuit of the C2.
I chase the Porsche for another mile, matching his every move as he slips through traffic. Finally we hit a light and he has to stop. I pull right next to him, look over, we exchange a "What's up?" glance and I say, "That's what I really wanted, but couldn't afford it." (I'm not about to say that my wife wouldn't let me spend that kind of money.
) He laughs and says, "Is that the new Z?" "Yes.", I reply. "That is a SWEET car!." he says with a big grin. "Is it fast?" "About 5.4 0-60." I reply, "But not as fast as that!" I mention while pointing to his beauty. "That's fast!" he says, "Not bad at all."
We continue talking until the light turns comparing my Silverstone to his Seal Grey and commenting about the beautiful colors we've both chosen. He waves and says, "Take it easy..." as he prepares to make a left-hander and I return the salute as we both head off into the evening in our wonderful sports cars.

I'm cruising back from Vegas and it's kinda backed up. I notice a silver Benz with the unmistakable SL500 headlights darting in and out of traffic behind me. He's not making any progress, as there is no room to move, so he takes the shoulder. He pulls up next to me, looks over, gives me the "thumbs up", as I admire his car, and he takes off.
A few days later, another guy in a black S500 sedan does the same thing.
A guy in a car 3 times the price of my Z admiring it. The Z rules!!
