Default High Milage opinion..

When does a person choose to rebuild the engine.. my question is, if the body is kept in good condition, can the car last to like say 500k if the engine is rebuilt over and over? I just wanna know if its worth investing in a crap load of parts for an AUTOMATIC Z WITH
73K MILES Just bought a $900 exhaust and I wanna start suspension and other big projects, just need opinions..

Parts will eventually wear out, as long as the body is straight you are good to some extent. My car has 133k on it now and i just ordered $900 in seats today, 4 point rollbar last month, over $1000 in suspension the month before. The car stays strong, but i will rebuild a motor before the end of the year.

Do a simple compression check and see where you stand.... then do another one at 100k... 150k... etc... I believe the compressions should be around 185 to 200 for a stock motor.

Obvious rebuilds would include blown motors, serious oil consumptions, low oil pressure, etc...

The body may last 500,000 miles but the rest of the car will not. At sometime you will be replacing transmission, axles, suspension.

Generally it is not economically feasible to keep a vehicle past 200,000 miles. Upkeep costs will be more expensive than a new vehicle.

I'm pretty sure other things will wear out on the car which will be more expensive than an engine.

You should strength the chase if you are going to track it or even drive it hard for a long time. Roll bar will help.
