Perhaps you could post a pic of your Z's radiator, and then we'd know if it's a stock one or some cheaper option. If it is the later & can be partially be proven to have caused part of the initial issue, then you may have some grounds to have a go at your insurance company and the repairer.

Umm.. i'm blaming driver and radiator error. Anyway you can pick up a used engine for $400-800 and install is $1,500. So its a no biggie. Hey maybe the mechanic will finance it for you ;-)

Done and done. 10k is a lot of money. Might want to check and see if your temp gauge and eyes are working

Yeah, get a 2nd opinion, and also talk to your ins. And next time, call for a tow and save yourself the headache (and cash)!

If you had your front end replaced, including the radiator, the shop that did the work is supposed to cover any work done to the area for 1 year. It's been 10 months - so you have 2 months left to make a dispute with the shop who pieced your car and possibly did a poor job by either making a mistake or using a cheap radiator.

I personally suggest Dealerrater.com, find out which is the best dealer in your area, and cough up the dough to tow your car for a second opinion. If the opinion is still a blown motor as a result of a bad radiator (somehow, I feel like dealer #1 is BSing you...and that the motor isn't blow, just the radiator needs to be replaced), then explain the situation to them, and tell them you had work done to the car at a shop after an accident. And then go to the shop that did the work and explain to them that the replacement radiator installed in the car was defective and caused the motor to fail.

I know this s an old thread but I cant stop laughing...I hear this crap everyday I am a Honda service advisor, its always Hondas fault or our fault, you cannot tell anyone in this day and age it is their fault. No one reads the owners manual, or listens to us, but they want to complain and point fingers when they wear out their tires from poor inflation, aggressive driving or the rotors and warped to hell etc the list goes on.

This made me think of one specific case a guy was mad because his daughters civic blew up, the lower rad hose blew off because some body shop didn't install the connector on it, and instead of going there, he towed it to us and asked me why no warning lights came on. Same thing, the aluminum motor was smoked so quick it was too late. I asked them both if the temp gauge went up and they just stared at me then reiterated the car should have warned them it was blowing up...FML
