Default Insurance is paying for my mods; please help.

I recently got into an accident after my 2007 Z (base) hydroplaned and spun out and hit the median.

According to Insurance , I need to replace my muffler and converter section (details below) and I have a budget of $961.61 to use for after market parts.

Can someone help me on guiding me what I could do with this allowance?
Eventually, down the road I plan to re-flash along with spacers and make it stricly a bolt on Z to drive everyday.

90 Repl Muffler from 11/06 w/o Nismo 1 $540.19 m Incl. M
91 Repl Converter & pipe 1 $333.59 m Incl.
92 Repl Muffler gasket 1 $8.33 Incl.
93 Repl Converter & pipe gasket 1 $9.73 Incl.
94* Repl Muffler shield 1 $68.77 0.

(copied from estimate provided)

It appears you state you need new cats and an exhuast..all the flanges and gaskets come w it my man.

If not, buy these HFCs.

http://intensepower.com/betehiflcaws.html

and for your new exhaust ( since you are limited on budget, mostly stock, etc)
chose from either of these:

http://intensepower.com/inni2035ex.html

http://intensepower.com/inexsyforni0.html

The HKS copy they sell above DOES in fact have titanium tips... hence the cost advance over the ebay stuff. I want those tips.. i should give Pete a call on that.

forget the exhaust. You don't need it. Just run the manifolds only and invest that money in a big spoiler. Think of the Downforce you could make with a big spoiler!!!

I would just buy a used OEM exhaust and just sit on the rest of the money.

The most solid plan so you can actually buy what you want and not just settling because it was "in your budget"

Since you plan to use the car for a DD, and it appears you really don't have any expendable money, I will list in order of smartness:

1.) Find stock exhaust system in the Marketplace for cheap, put leftover money into the car payment (I am assuming you have a note).

2.) Splurge on a nice exhaust system and put some of your own cash in to make it happen.

3.) I'm out of breath...

This doesn't really make sense to me, but I suppose anything is possible. Personally, I'd go with a custom exhaust setup for half that and then use the rest for whatever.

I'd also be looking for the rest of the damage.

So, you claimed insurance for something that cost 961 dollars? Your deductible better have been 0.

Firstly, this isn't insurance fraud. Obviously they find a scratch on something and they look for a
way to expense and throw it on insurance. I'm only paying a deductible and If I find any parts cheaper
then they will cut me a check for whatever I purchase.

Either way at the end of the day I'm paying a flat deductible and when I asked IF i could apply
after market products within the range on the estimate, they agreed to refund me upto my $931
provided I ordered the parts and gave it to them.

That being said, I was wondering if adding an after market exhaust and other accessories WILL make a
difference to HP when i tag on other mods in the future such as spacers, intake, reflash etc etc?????? I know
we all have our opinions on here regarding increasing HP with respect to bolt-ons but I've posted the
thread for guidance and advice.

thanks,

No, not really. You should get the exhaust that you like the most in terms of sound and visibility... no performance to really gain there.
