27K for the Z? Damn, I got ripped..I paid 29K stock.. That's a great deal if you ask me. I say keep the Z and add onto the garage! Maybe add a second story instead of to the backside, that'll make room for the lift?

There are Elise owner who's 6'2" 180lbs who fit fine. I think it's a matter of width, so if you had too many Krispy Kreams it would be the wrong car. Also the seats have an unique securing method, you can't just get any racing seats, in addition the standard size bucket seats wouldn't fit, atleast it'll only fit one.
The car isn't small but low. It is wider than MR2 and almost as long. Compared to other cars like S2000, boxster, Z4 it's smaller by an inch or two.
What's appealing about the Elise is that it is track ready without any upgrades. You don't have to get better brakes, Volk Rims, race tires, suspenshion like the 350Z. It's result of superiority in weight. Replacement tires are cheaper, you don't have to replace brake pads as often, and brakes don't over heat.
Elise owners in Europe race them often and it's hard to beat. The few Elise brought over here have done well as well. The US version is fitted with larger coolers to deal with the warmer weather here, trouble free Toyota motor and Tranny, and Fiberglass body that doesn't chip easily or dent.

It's an impractical car, but I think you're not sacrificing that much by going from a 2 seater roadster to the Elise. Warning though, getting in and out is an acrobatics work. You'll have to step over a high sidewall. That's because you're basically sitting in a tub of Aluminium.
That also makes the car safer than it looks, because rather than just a bar of steel as side impact bar, it's an solid Aluminium structure protecting you.

Just wanted to let you know that the Z is staying. Had the contractor out today to start the process of lengthening my garage 4 feet, moving the door on the garage from the front to the side and moving the entire driveway to the side of the garage thereby giving me room to park 4 cars in the driveway instead of 2. We are putting the minimum grass area as allowed in the code in the front yard.

Excellent Steve! That's great news. Adding on to the garage always works and its not as expensive as adding to the house.. I once designed an addition to an existing garage that allowed two garage doors (one in front and on in back) which opened up the back yard access from the front. Needless to say the owner stuffed the garage and backyard with cars.

I've never seen many complaints from Europeans about their Lotus dealers...

Well, the more I think about it, the more I think I should still sell the Z. I can race karts full time for the next 2 years with the $$$$. I think $27K is extremely good with everything I have in the car and LOW mileage. So, any takers??
