143 17 year olds killed and counting

This is a biased statistic. This has nothing to do with the cars per se. It is much more about the people that drive them. Look at the "safest" cars. How many young people do you know that drive those cars? not very many. Now look at the dangerous list. Much more likely to be driven by younger people, and younger people tend to drive more recklessly. If you want to know how safe your car is and take out the driver variable, look at the safety rating it was given for crash tests.

I at all the people getting offended/defensive about the 17 year old reference in this thread.
1 - Agree
2 - Disagree... Z's do not go very fast, nor do they go very fast easily.
3 - Disagree... I see a lot of small cars out on the road, more so than trucks, big 4 door sedans, etc.

This has been discussed many times. It has nothing to do with the car itself but rather the people who are driving them.
1) 350Z becomes old and depreciates enough for teenage and younger more inexperienced drivers to purchase.
2) The car has enough power to pwnd them when they decide to pull a Fast and Furious move.
Pull the fatality rate for the Z between 03-05 when the car still held decent value.

I think it's more about the car. The Z is a tin can on wheels. It's not about the capability of the driver when you hit a concrete divider at 75MPH. The same "kid" could be driving a 1978 Cadillac and survive.
Edit: Granted the some of the top cars on the list are driven by younger drivers and that is because they are affordable and "fast." Their age is not why they are dying, but possibly why the are in a situation where they could die in the first place. It's the car that is failing to save lives. Notice they are all small cars other than the pick up trucks (which have a small seating area/no cab forward design)?

To you guys calling me an idiot- You weren't there, I've learned from that experience, tell me you've never tried to stop someone from cutting you off in the last 5 years. The only person I know who backseat drives like you two is my mom. It doesn't really bug me that you call me an idiot, I don't think I'm that smart to begin with (or I'd be rich by now) but I'm not stupid and disrespectful enough to start calling people I don't know an idiot while I'm on the other side of the country.
And to the people who didn't get the reference to the 17 year olds getting Z's thread, sorry.

I don't know what everyone else is paying for insurance, but I don't feel like I am paying a lot at all. I have Farmers and my coverage is full as well as not being just the minimum. I'm 25 and I pay a lot less to insure my Z then I did for a 99 ford ranger I had at 18.

You're still an idiot.

Alright everyones entitled to their opinion. I'm going to try it your way for a while, I will no longer pay attention to other drivers and let people cut me off as they see the need.
I'm serious too. In the interest of internet friendship why don't you tell us all something you do that other people could call you an idiot for.
Peace

but i was 17 in my silverado PU and i crashed it hard yearly and im alive. if i had tried to mow down those 3 telephone-pole-sized trees with my z i think i would have failed pretty miserably. (fixed ithe truck myself with a new hood and bumper). or when i hit a telephone pole at 40 so hard i flew into my windshield and my side mirrors folded forward (fixed with a new rad support, rad, hood, bumper, grill.)
over ten cars have rear ended the truck with only a dented bedside and 4k in my pocket to show. still drive the beast when the whether is bad.
i guess the point is if you wanna crash into stuff get a truck, just get a truck for a first car anyway you will crash into something (to parents).

Total health hazard, your passengers could breath germs and die.
And you would be so proud, I let someone cut me off on the way home. I was in a Sentra though so I didn't have much choice...
