Default How loud is the cabin?

Here's a question nobody's asked...

How loud is it inside the cabin, both during regular driving and freeway driving?

Say, compared to a standard sedan? Louder, quieter, or about the same?

Not Loud enough!!

I spent an hour or two in a Touring on twisty roads, no highway. I didn't notice any whistles or whooshes or rattles or anything like that, and I'm usually fairly sensitive to that kind of thing.

I did think that the exhaust should have more of a presence, more throat. It was too muted for my taste, although that opinion might change over a long drive.

Default As loud as you rev the engine baby!

JK nizl. Love your posts about the subwoofers. keep em coming.

The interior is pretty quiet is you drive it normal. but normal fo me on my 1st day is under 4000rpm. I noticed if i shut off the radio and rolled windows down, there isnt much wind noise. Overall its quiet. until i missed a shift and it went to 6k rpm. sounded like a totally different car. but if you dont rev the cabin is hush.

She hums. She's quiet. (I also have the automatic though...)

Very little wind noise if any, but the exhaust sound make the cabin slightly louder than my '95 Maxima while cruising, but it is not too bad. Obviously, when you rev hard, it is louder. I just drove my Maxima today after 1 weeks on the Z, so know exactly the differences.

I would like to know about cruising at 65mph, windows up, and ROAD NOISE. I had a civic, and the rumble beneath squelched normal conversation. I just drove a Daewoo rental, and believe it or not, it was so quite I felt funny. The car is a POS, but the noise level is totally muted and detached sounding. I like my 280z rumble with the 2.5" piping

So how about the road noise....

The road noise is noticeable depending on the road surface but the exhaust sound is more prominent. In my car, I also have problem with the intermittent background rattling noise from the drive shaft shield, discussed in other thread. My wife and I took the Z out of town last Sunday through the scenic route, no problem with conversation during cruising.

Car & Driver interior sound measurement indicates 72dBA for 70mph cruising. For comparison, the Lexus ES300 shows 66 dBA. Keep in mind that the type of tire used also contribute to the road noise.

All the friends and neighbors that I gave ride to complimented about the quiteness of the car and the smooth ride. I assumed they meant for the "sport car" and not in general. Well, I know my Z is not as quite as my '95 Maxima.

Hope this help. I don't think you have any thing to worry about noise level.
