Discrepancies in Z delievery time
Many of the members here mentioned that the pre-ordering of the Z has been over for quite some time now. I went and pre-ordered a Z about 2 1/2 weeks ago, and my dealer said that he would put in the order on sept 2. Now, when I ordered it he told me that it would get here in 60-90 days. Did I get conned into believing that it will come by early December, or is it true that the orders are backed up until February. I talked to my dealer about this and he said no this is not true. I even asked a dealer in California, he also denied the rumor.
I have this gut feeling that the dealer exaggerated on the 60-90 days, but will tell me there has been a delay and eventually give me the car in February. Is there any proof to back up that the car will not come by early December? I'm not sure who to believe.
Otherwise, do any of you guys know of a dealer that is selling a enthusiast 350z at msrp close to the mid south?

My dealer has a factory order in for my enthusiast Z since August 3rd. He just called a few days ago to tell me it will be in production in October.
I too am wondering how long it will be. November..December? I just want it before the snow hits. How long does it take to build, ship and transport to Chicago? Hmm

I placed my order in Tampa on Labor Day. I was told that the dealers were only allowed to place orders once per month and mine and 3 other orders would be officially placed on Sept 5th. They told me on Labor day that the car would be delivered to me in mid to late December and that I would be number 4 on their Sept. 5th odering date. When I called on 9/6 to confim that the order was acutually placed, It was confirmed and that I was number 2 out of 4. I found that very strange. I asked when I would receive an order number and/or VIN number. I was told I would only receive an order number after the car arrived at the port (JAX).
I have been scanning all of these posts for a while now and all I can say is that I feel that I am at the complete mercy of the dealer. I went to two different ones before making my decision to go with Ferman. They seemed to be the most honest dealer. That might be an oxymoron....I am not sure. I felt very comfortable with the sales manager Eric and Sales person, Rachell. Very easy to deal with and both were very knowledgable concerning the 350ZX. They told me of the policy that nobody in the dealership can drive the newly delivered Z's besides the general sales manager, and he only drives it next door to fill the tank with gas.
If anybody can provide advice of how I can track MY order to prevent what happened to with the '84 Honda CRX (placed deposit, waited 6 months. Never got it....they just took me off the market and sold my car to others willing to pay over MSRP. )
What type of leverage can I use to "compell" my dealer to play it straight with me? I have already told them about the large following this group has..and I plan to give them a glowing recommendation if they deliver what was promised!
