My Z32 TT had 453whp, and never had any problems or chattering noises and shifted like a dream. I will agree the synchros were pretty weak though, because one day coming down from 5th into 4th, it grinded a little cause my clutch line developed a crack I was unaware of. After that you couldn't into 4th at any rpms without it grinding. I think the z33 tranny shifts like butter. I also have no clue how a civic would feel better especially it being shifter cables. Just my .02

everyone will have different experience based on how they drive, and how they maintain the component. Even then, it is a mechanical part and subject to failure under the most ideal conditions
An FG chassis Civic Si shifts nicer than a 350Z? I've had both cars, I couldn't disagree more. Not sure if you got your car new or used, that can make a difference.
My Z is an 04, purchased new, and despite there being internet posts about how the early cars were problematic, mine's always been flawless. Haven't done anything special with it, and I drive it the way a sports car should be driven. I just stay on top of fluid changes. Hot or cold, it's always worked well

My 06 with 81k on it shifts perfectly every time and I drive it as intended. I have a great short shifter and run Motul.

Let me just restate - my CD009 has just a few thousand miles on it. It is basically new. And I can get roughness and clunking with the clutch fully depressed and the shifter carefully moved into gears, and it has ALWAYS been like this, from day one. I am VERY tired of people accusing the driver. Based on the descriptions, it sounds like the transmissions vary greatly in how they are configured or how they operate. If you drove my car, you would notice it too. It isn't a driver factor in many cases.
I'm going to go and drive another 350z this weekend just to see if it does the same thing.

My transmission has over 80k and is flawless.
I have numerous posts complaining about the oil consumption issue, I have no problem complaining when I have issues.

Everybody in this thread needs to do themselves a favor and get a weighted shift ****. The extra mass masks any notchiness like you wouldn't believe. Even before I bought the car it was the first thing on my "to do" list based on past experience.
I can honestly say I absolutely LOVE the shifting experience now.
The shifter is a part of the car you CANNOT ignore. You spend an enormous amount of time dealing with it, so it's worth a fraction of the investment you spend on other mods.
Let me put it another way -- ignoring the shifter is like having the most bad-*** computer in the world, but with a 7" screen and a typewriter for a keyboard.

I went through a few ***** and hated them all until I got the Forged Performance ****. It took me awhile to spend the money but I wish I would have done it sooner. You're definitely right, the weighted **** makes the experience soooo much better.

I have the Tommy Kaira. Yeah, it's expensive for a hunk of metal, but I love the shape -- perfect for a shift ****. I like it so much that when I eventually move on to another car, I'm going to either try and retro-fit the TK, or have one custom made in the same design.
I love how it has a rounded top, but is concave on the bottom half, so your fingers have something to grip.
