blah since everoyne used "GLAD" in their sentence. i'm gonan say the driver & passenger should be thankful they walked away from it and it's no wonder 350z's crash rating is 4.5 stars out of 5

Yes....

After that horrific crash... and to walk away uninjured... is a real life test of the Z's safety....

Shhhh! There were no performance parts on the car I am sure if there were, they would all still be in good shape and would go on Baby II.

I was shocked to get the call this morning, but we are all thankfull that John was ok.

These things happen and Doug and John will make the best of it.

This is one safe car. Looks like his STB did it's job too. Send Doug California condolences please. Everyone is probably still in shock at this point. Doug is a good man and even a better dad.

At least everyone is ok, that's all that matters.

Hurts to see a Z like that.

I have known Doug since 1986 when I moved to Nashville. I credit him and his guys (Buddy and John) for keeping my 71 240Z with 240k miles on the road and going strong. I went on virtually every SCCA race trip with them for 7 years, and feel like over that time period you get a pretty good feel for someone. I consider Doug a very good friend, and the posts here show why-He's a good man whose heart is in the right place. I couldn't believe the news when he called me Sat. AM (we went out with him and Ginger to a show Friday night), but I was not surprised at all by his "It's only a car, the important thing is that everyone's OK, they still make blue 350s!" attitude about this terrible accident. His real concern was with the people involved, and how they were physically and emotionally.

**** HAPPENS, but people like Doug don't "happen" very often!
I wish we all had his attitude!

Very well said Randy. Unlike you, I don't know Doug as well as you do, but my limited conversations with him over the phone gave me an idea of what kind of person he is. I am glad to hear that he is the kind of person that I thought he would be.

As long as everyone is ok all is well. Insurance will take care of BABY and I'm sure it won't be long before we see "BABY IS BACK" . I agree with the guy who posted about the strut bar. With a roll like that it was definately subjected to extreme lateral forces but it still looks new. I'll be placing my order for one very soon.

Its good to hear everyone made it out alive.

On another note, the $20 on the rim cracks me up.

Wow, sorry to see this post, but glad to know everybody is OK. Seeing that roof makes me glad the Z seems to be built very well for occupant safety.

Luckily, cars can be replaced, and hurt pride that always accompanies these types or wrecks will heal.

Condolences Doug.

Holy Craptastic! It's unreal that a car can take that abuse and still put herself on the rack like that. Nissan should put that in a commercial. "Like a Timex, our new Z will take a lickin', and keep on tickin" (well, without the "tickin" part, but you know...).

Is he going to rebuild it, or strip it and get a new one?
