Unhappy A Sad Day At Crawford's...

After getting a call early this morning, I was told there was bad news...

... "baby" was dead. For those of you who don't know who "baby" is - It's Doug's Z. The prototype for ALL the Crawford parts from day one.

Doug was not driving the car, his "third son" was... simply just let the rear right tire come off the road and lost traction - throwing it around. Heading over the embankment the car flipped three times. Both the driver and passenger walked away without a scratch.

The pictures tell the rest of the story.

To view the entire album - Sad Day At Crawford's

Click here for a quick video clip - loading it onto the rack.

To start off with - notice the police report - POINTS OF IMPACT - Do you see anything NOT checked off?

I think I'm gonna cry...at least I got to see it with my own two eyes and ride in it around the track before this tragedy occurred.

Sorry to hear about the loss, but i'm glad everyone was ok. How fast was the car going when the driver lost control?

Default They Are SOOO Lucky...

To have walked away. While the car is a loss, the irreplacable occupants are indeed fortunate.

Glad they are safe.

Aww! It is hard to believe they walked away unscathed with all of the deep damage. Glad they'll be OK.

bummer.

looks like the poor car took a serious beating. did it have the standard seatbelt, or an upgraded racing harness?

i've seen many pictures of z's that have been in severe accidents, but don't recall ever hearing of drivers or passengers getting seriously hurt. this is a very good thing for all of us.

Default Doug is the MAN

Randy called me this morning and told me about BABY. Couldn't believe my ears, but things like this are not out of the ordinary when you've got a powerful Z.

The thing that sticks out from my conversation with Randy is this: He said Doug's biggest concern, aside from the fact that everyone was OK, was that John was going to feel bad for a long time about wrecking BABY. Randy quoted Doug as saying, "It's just a car". John works for Doug, in case that hasn't been posted.

Reminds me of when I was 16 and rolled my brother's brand new 1978 Scirocco. It's a stigma that stays with you forever and it is a painful one.

Doug has his head on straight and only gives a damn about the important stuff. That's why we Nashville locals love him so much.

Doug - You Da Man!

PS: If you need to borrow THE BEAST until your replacement arrives, just say the word!

Chalk another mark up for the Z's crash rating.
Glad everyone made it out ok.
To bad about the car. But that's what insurance is for.
