Default toronto z at yonge/steeles

went to the dealer and there was a black z looking very nice. talked to once of the sales guys who basically was not interested in selling me the car unless i wanted to pay a big premium over list. "some guy offered my $8000 over list today", he said.

"what a moron", i said.

if you're out there, guy, don't be stupid and check out more dealers.

based on what you are saying, Willowdale Nissan has a black 350Z on the lot for sale and someone is willing to pay $8000 over MSRP for it to get it right now instead of waiting till next June? I don't see a problem with that if I had the extra $8000 in my bank right now. You said to check other dealers, and this is the part I don't understand, are you saying that you found dealers in the GTA that actually has the car in there lot and are selling them at MSRP? If that's the case, I'm willing to pay YOU $500 right now to find out which dealer has this car available!

people like you are why dealers are making the big markup .

btw, you wouldn't have to wait until next June to get one for msrp. Expect Janurary to be filled with Z's at good prices.

excuse me TJZ, just incase you did not know, we are talking about the Canadian market, that's only going to be getting around 750 of the 350Zs in the first year, so what you are saying maybe true down where you are at, but up here in Canada, it's all presold till next June!
If you don't know the facts, don't pass any judgements! People like me?! What is that suppose to mean?! I preordered my Z back in March already, and will be getting my in October. All I was simply trying to imply is that if someone here in Canada do not wish to wait till next June to get there car and have the cash to pay above MSRP, then it would make sense for them to do so. I personally would not pay the $8000 above MSRP, but if I can get one for $500 over MSRP right now, I'll buy it right away, cause I know I can turn around and sell it for at least $5000 above MSRP in the market. If it was not the case, why do you think people pre-order the car 8 months in advance anyways?!!!

Exclamation toronto z at yonge/steeles

In Ontario it is illegal for a new car dealership to sell a car for more than MSRP. You might want to go back to the dealership and remind him of this (He probably is already aware) and then inform him that you will be reporting him to the provincial authorities. This is the best way to protect us consumers from greedy & sleazy dealers.

Yes, the Canadian market is much much different. I've seen a ton of post from US people saying "Z pre-order slot for sale", but none from Canada. If you order a car now in Toronto, dealers are saying that you MAY have it in the spring of 2003.

It MIGHT be illegal for a dealer to sell the car above MSRP if the customer is purchasing a brand new car. However, it is not illegal for the dealer to sell the car if the car is used slightly, say 500km, and then sell the car for $10000 above MSRP. Besides, MSRP means Manufacture Suggested Retail Price, it is simply a "Suggestion", I don't think there would be a law to restrict the dealers on a "Suggestion". What if the Manufacture Suggested for the Z to only run on 94 Octane, then would it be illegal for you to pump gas at ESSO, since Sunoco is the only company that has 94 Octane?

The guy that posted the ad most likely don't have the car yet, it says the date the ad posted was Sept 5th, but the message says the car "WILL" arrive Aug 30th?! If that's the price including all the taxes and PDI, I'll be interested in getting it. But I doubt it!

Yes, it is, but what the dealer will do is take ownership of the car and then list it as a used car for sale. They can then charge what they want for it.
