Toronto,

I want to set up my 350Z's audio/Nav system like yours. You mentioned in a post that for the Alpine Nav you can download and burn the cd ROM software from the internet. Where can I find this to download cause I want to get the Nav but don't know where to find the software. I am primarily interested in the southeast maps as I live in Florida. Your nav is the NVA-N751AS, right? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, does that Sony headunit sound as good as it looks?

Thanks,
Dave

You can download it by using internet P2P programs like 'E-Donkey', 'WinMX', 'Kazza'.
I had no problem downloading several NAV cd's.

I have downloaded 5 CD's so far but no Florida map 'cause I know i will never drive my Z to Florida..(uh.. 3500 miles..)
(You can still buy a Nav cd for US$100. from any Alpine Authorized dealer or even cheaper on E-bay)

Sony headunit... Hmm.. I like its look but... Sound quality is way inferior than the high end model from Pioneer, Alpine, Clarion.
Not that bad but still bad. It's SONY
But.. People LOVE it. You know why

Thanks for the info. I have Kazza Lite but there's no Nav software available. Guess I need to download regular Kazza or one of the other file sharing programs and try. I ordered the Alpine NVA N751AS nav from ebay today. I paid $650 for a brand new unit with software for the southeast states and all US highways. I'm working on getting the Alpine screen as well. Looks like a decent GPS Nav with voice prompts, gyros to sense turns and speed just like the expensive DVD navs. How do you like yours?

I really having trouble deciding on the Sony HU. Adding the screen makes me want to add a dvd player in addition to the NAv to display cool images, and that makes me want to add the hu so the sound from my dvd is dvd quality. If I add the Sony HU then I might as well get XM radio since aftermarket HUs typically don't get good FM reception, not to mention Sony supports XM so I could order Sony components and it would all be digital. With the $660 HU now visable, my car no longer looks stock so I will need an alarm. By the time were done were talking at least $3000. It's really difficult to decide where to draw the line but I'm having a good time dreaming.
