Default New to a 350z

Hey guys, name is chris. im seriously thinking about getting a 350z but i know next to nothing about them. i just sold my 12 second stage 2 srt4 and i love the looks of these cars. i guess they are pretty quick from the get go but i don't expect to be very surprised due to my last car.

is there any year i should avoid buying?
and i also have 10k in cash. that should be enough to buy a z im guessing?

Hi bro, multiple things. Get ready to be flamed for asking "is there any year I should avoid buying" because there are a lot of threads on this topic. Just hit the search button.

Some of the 2006 models have oil consumption issues, but with your price range that shouldn't matter. And I know there is something wrong with the 2004 models but I am not familiar with that. I think that's why they made a 2004.5. Anyways just search that up. For 10 grand all you are looking at are primarily 2003's. If you want lower mileaged one then you should try to add another grand or two. It will make a big difference, but for 10 grand cash you could still get a decent 2003 model. I have been waiting for a nice 350z on Craigslist for a while now so I am kind of familiar with this. People are struggling selling older Z's with the economy. I have seen some Z's start off at 13 grand and go as low as 9 grand. I don't know if you are a fixer upper guy, but Z's with over 100k miles can definitely be found for 9k. if you are looking for around 65k miles then you should provide minimum 11 to 12 grand.

Good luck to you.

with 10k cash you can only find a 03 if you look hard and have patience, maybe something better. also depends on your area.

i got my track edition Z for 9k 3 weeks ago.

I have an 06 z, haven't noticed any oil problems or unusual oil consumption, but I'd say save up a little more money and try to get the newer 350z (07 or 08) cause they have the more powerful engines I think. either way a z is a z and they're great cars.

Oil consumption can be found in years 2003-2007, and based on newer data about the 370z, basically any Z with a manual tranny. It is most common in 03 and 05-06.

10k may be hard to find a good used Z.However,as is the case with alot of cars, especially those that are popular like the Z,there are price differences depending on the area of the country you live. For example,I live in the Atlanta area.No way you will find a Z(any year) for near that price. If you did,it would be a beater. But,you got CASH..
so you never know. You may be able to pull off a deal.
As far as the "year" goes, first of all, with 10K,you are taiking a 03-04.But,I would'nt get caught up in what Z'S are the "worst".I think this is overblown.I have a 03...bought new,
74k miles...use no oil between 6,000 mi oil changes.
Just go out and get one and stop imagining reason why you should'nt.
Good luck in your search!

Like above has said, you're gonna have a hard time finding a nice Z with only 10K to spend, but you never know.

Comparing a FWD FI car to a RWD NA car is gonna be like comparing apples/oranges. I would drive a 350z before you decide on buying one. That's the only way to know if it's what you want. I was never impressed with the SRT4. Just an ugly car, IMO

Good luck

If you only have 10k to spend, I would have kept the SRT.

With all the money you spent on modding the Neon, you probably could have walked into a dealership and bought a new 370Z... live and learn.
