Talking The Day Has Come!!!

After some calling & looking around, test driving, and numbers crunching I have found my Z.

2003 Pikes Peak Touring 6MT w/ Charcoal Black Leather all but the Nav. 914 miles. I have to fly to TN to get it tax free (military) The Z will cost me $31,000 out the door plus $329 air fare for me and my girl and the cost of gas back to Texas.

The trip will clock in about 875 miles, just wondering if anyone can estimate the fuel cost for that?

Z you guys on the road!!!!

Dan

Where in TN?

Thats around 3 tanks of gas. 600 miles takes me just under 2 tanks. I should say fill-ups not tanks . . .I never wait till empty.

you should get about 27 mpg. Where in TN are you picking her up? Where in TX are you? Memphis to Wichita Falls is roughly 9 hours I think? We drove there to visit my uncle in the USAF.

Anywhere else...hmm...Memphis to Dallas is about 8-9 hours (taking a route opposite the Mem-Wichita Falls way)

So you should just calculate your total # of miles w/ 27 MPG (97 octane).

Some mapping sofwares help you calculate total cost of gas (Microsoft's comes to mind).

The trip is more or less Nashville TN to Austin TX...I drove it before once when my unit did some training at FT Hood. I want to say they calculated the trip at 15 hours, of course they planned for 60 mph, and we HAD to overnight in Texarcana. I am pretty certain they figured out 875 miles? 27mpg isn't too shabby. At least I'll kill some of the break in miles in one trip.

BTW what is the suggested break in mileage, 2000 miles?

Make sure you stop by the shop while you are in town... NASHVILLE!

I made a similar journey in my Z picking it up... Lubbock to Nashville.

Break-in? Hammered it the first time I got in it, took it to redline every 100 miles - at 1000 it was broken in! I baselined higher than most.

I'd love to stop in but the trip home is kicking off @ 0500. I will be back from Iraq for good in the near future, and I'll be seeking out local resources there at Ft. Campbell, KY. In short.. see you soon.

Hey Dan,

Thank you for all that you and your fellow soldiers are doing throughout the Middle East for US.

Since your 350Z is still fairly new, you should try not to keep the rpms in one spot.
