Just watched the Top Gear video with Jeremy Clarkson (who hates the Z, btw)...he says the VQ engine is outsourced from a French automaker (Renault, Peugeot?). Anyone know if this is true?

Why would Nissan buy their motors from a French automaker?

 

That's false.

The VQ has always been from Nissan even before the Renault/Nissan merger.

 

Thats what i thought when i watched the video. And after watching him rag on every detail he could muster, it was obviouse the guy didnt know what he was talking about and just needed to fill some air time with BS to pick up his next paycheck.

The Coneheads are from France, the VQ is from Japan.

 

I'm pretty surprised he spoke so poorly of the car. I've tended not to agree with Top Gear in the past (the episode where the S4 beats the M3 at the track comes to mind...right), but he's definitely nitpicking on a lot of things. I'm not sure what he expects in a car that starts at less than $27K...you cant compare build quality with what he usually drives...Lambos, Ferraris, Porsches, BMW's. If the car cost $100K AND had a crappy interior, I'd understand, but not at that price.

He didnt even give it points for good looks!

 

Thank God this isn't so! I can't stand the French!
