Might Get Rid If The Z....
this morning i was lucky enough to test drive the evo 8 and wow...that car is amazing....the sound of the turbo spooling up just gives me the chills...i test drove one in silver.... there was a blue one and a white one in the showroom .. tell you the truth i think they are pretty nice looking...the front mount intercooler
..but now im thinking really hard...i dont know if i will get the looks and thumbs up in an evo than i do in my daytona blue z....its just that when i got back into my z i felt the less power difference
..by the way mine is stock...tough choice...lol help me out and convince me to stick with my z lol

Putting a supercharger on your car would probably be cheaper than the hit you would take on depreciation if you sold your car vs buying a new evo. The evo is a nice ride, but the Z so sooo much nicer IMO. Get the supercharger and give yourself the best of both!
Hahaha. I did the same thing you did bro. I test drove a silver 03' Evo 8 in the summer and the same thoughts were going through my head. I loved the extra power that the Evo8 had and I really liked the interior (Recaro seats, momo steering wheel, etc.) and the front end looks awesome and really aggressive IMO. But, once you star to walk around the rest of the car, the looks go to hell. Oh yeah, the trunk lid is so light I could open and close it with 1 finger. Ooops, back to how the Z is better...The Z is much better looking all around if you have upgraded wheels (I have the track wheels myself). But, for a price tag of 30,000 even for a car that quick with all those options and a sunroof is hard to turn away. To be honest with you, if a dealership told me that they would take my Z at the end of next summer and trade me even for an 04' Evo 8 (just in time for the next winter) I would do it in a heartbeat. (I have 7.500 miles on my Z right now and I have the touring with nav...paid 36,414 + tax). And yes, I would get a silver Evo 8.....
i wanted the weightless white evo that was there... well i finance my z... i have a base and have 10,600 miles on it...and i only had it for 4 months...but now that i got a beater i barely drive it...anyways..i put about 5 and a half for the downpayment... and paid off four months about to be 5...im going to the dealer to see if they would accept it and have my monthly payments lower than the z...if it works.. i think imma trade it away...but its really tough cus the z has performance and DEFIENTLY the looks...but the evo ..the drive was amazing and i luv the aggresive front end...but i kind of dont like it from the side view of the car... squarish lol
How old are you? I just turned 24. When I test drove the Evo 8, I did it on Cherry Hill and the salesguy (really young asian kid) let me beat the hell out of it for like 30 minutes at an old horsetrack that had a paved straightaway that was almost 1/4 mile. I couldnt launch it worth a damn, but I wasnt dropping the clutch with high rpms...I was trrying to fether it a little like I do in my Z, but once I got into 2nd and redlined it, 3rd redlined, shift into 4th....I was sold. After watching Skidazzles video though, I see that once you slap on a TT or supercharger on the Z it is the complete package that you will never have with the Evo 8. But, on the other hand, I wouldn't want to invest 6 grand (installed) for a supercharger and 8-9 for a TT (installed) to just match the Evo 8's power stock that is under warranty. I say go for the Evo 8 if you can get them at least down to 30,000 even with the sunroof....if you are looking to get an 04' don't get that spoiler though....
Lemme give u some info on the car since I USED to have one.
There is definately something wrong with the stock clutch. Me, and my 2 cousins all bought our Evos in tampa on the same day. I only had around 3000 miles then the clutch gave way with NO warning. Well, I did notice a little clutch slip but the clutch totally died a few days later. Mitsubishi has a bulletin to not replace clutches under warranty(what crap!). This happened to all 3 of us at around the same mileage. I also checked on the evo forums, many others have had this happen. So something is not right.
The evo isn't that quick when it's stock. I'm pretty sure our Zs can take one out. But after we put on the 3inch Turboback and intake, Top end really opened up. It's pretty scary. I think the stock exhaust has like 3 or 4 cats. Aside from the clutch problem, the car is ok. The ricers and WRXers eyes were glued to me everytime I passed by. It's just so funny.
I, well it's actually it's my little brother's, decided to trade it in because of the quality. It just wasn't worth the 30,000 we paid for it. Racing seats were very nice. NO CRUISE CONTROL!!!!!. Looks are very nice, I really liked the carbon fiber wing.
Basically it was a really fast piece of crap. Not to mention the 30K price tag.
I would rather buy a WRX and put in some bolt-ons. It'll match the evo in no time.

If the Evo is faster great for Evo owners. If I come across a stock Evo on the street I'll let you know.
IMO the Z overall is a true sports car compared to the Evo. Add a SuperCharger to your Z if your hungry for more HP. With 287HP stock the Z aint slow.
Who wants back seats in thier sports car?
Evo owners Rx8 owners etc. except they arent sports cars.
hell my 328i is quick but I wouldnt call it a sports car either.
The Evo is also nothing exciting to look at.

I gotta agree that EVO is a nice and fast ride. Comming from a ex-Eclipse GS-T owner, I have no doupt on the 4G63-T performance. However, I do like the look of the Z a lot more. EVO looks kinda...I dont want to say ricey, but the Z does look more classy. Oh, and I dont want to drive a 4 door...simple as that.

yea i went to the dealer yesterday after work to check it out again and make up my mind.. they had the white one there... he said i would be able to take it home today .. so i go back outside to look at my z... (it was washed )....i couldnt do it... i said to forget about the deal... the z is to much of a car to let go... i go to the garden state mall after and oo my... so many people just looks break necks... point .. girls looking ....a couple cars highbeam me and sum1 also stopped me to ask me how nice it is.. and if that is custom paint job (i have daytona blue)...so i cant give it up .. im sticking with the z...

Listen to me.
Please do this ok.
You will never be happy with what you have. Save your money and keep the Z.
You're probably through with the honeymoon phase of the Z and need a fresh hand down your pants (Hence the EVO) but I guarentee you, if you buy it, and the thrill is gone again, you'll want to get something that is faster and looks better.
The Z is FUN. Don't you get goose bumps driving a selfish man's car? I mean, every gauge in the car is pointed towards you. There's no back seat. Very little trunk space.
Of course it's your choice, but I can tell you, class vs. econo car with a fast motor, it's an easy choice for me.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree that the EVO is butt ugly. I think they look more like early 90's jetta's witha body kit than they do a sports car. The Z has it beat by looks easy, and you can put a turbo kit in the Z that will have it beat by performance as well.
Just my .02$
Just my .02$
yea i cant even believe i thought about it....there was about 6 evo's there... 2 whites ..one yellow... blue.. and 2 silvers....i mean the test drive was fun but not adifference... other than sound.. the evo has the sweet sound of the turbo meanwhile the z is just raw power....keeping the z with out a doubt....cant wait to start mods....
