My 2003 touring that I picked up three weeks ago had imperfections in what they said was the clear coat on the hood, and they gave me a "we owe" to fix it. That was the only reason I accepted it that day. When I took it back to get it fixed, the service manager swore up and down that the super blacks do not have clear coat and that I would just have to live with it (they dabbed in some touch up paint, and it looks worse than before).
I haven't sent in the nissan survey yet and I was wondering if I am getting the run around or not. Can anyone tell me if I have clear coat? It sure looked like a clear coat imperfection to me.
thanks

If they owe you a fix, they owe you a fix. No matter what they need to do to make it right. If it requires a complete repaint of the hood, they need to repaint it. I do believe all current new car paint has clearcoat on it. My last black car was my '93 Lexus SC300 5MT, and that had a clearcoat.
I hope your "we owe" was a written document of some kind. You can use this with the BBB, NNA, or in small claims court. Good Luck.

i hope the I owe you was a written document as stated above. It should of been something the manager and you signed BEFORE you met the financial officer.
Not sure on the clear coat question, but more than likely it does have one. They told me I had something in my clear coat before and it really was overspray from something. Came right off with claybar

Thanks for all of the replies. The flaw looked like a bubble, perhaps .25" in diameter, in the clearcoat that had popped, with only the ridge near the surface of the hood left. It was pretty obvious.

Hey Texan,
I have what appears to be clearcoat damage on my Superblack Roadster. See images 4 and 5 of this link:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=52460
I made note of it on my customer satisfaction survey and I've also contacted my local dealership via email..... nothing.
So far? So bad. I haven't pushed because the car isn't road-insured because it's in my garage for the Winter. I've only got fire, theft and comprehensive on it right now. I wouldn't want to have to drive it to the dealership in the snow. I haven't even driven the darn thing in the rain!
