I'd rather let a trunk monkey do my oil change than the fools at Walmart. I would take your car to a reputable shop for a full inspection.

 

+1... Definitely take the car to another mechanic to do a once over or diagnostics on it. Alot of things couldve gone wrong =/

 

The main reason i like to do my own oil changes, all the undershroud hardware likes to get destroyed/lost. That is enough to do the oil change myself.

 

I had the same problems with the undershroud...loosing bolts-a pain just to take off&put back on.I bought a alluminum(powder coated)undershroud.Fits like OEM,has a neat little door that you can open with a few screws,gives access to drain plug and filter.
Looks cool too!

Likewise. That undershroud rocks! I can change the oil in less time than it takes to drive somewhere else to have it done. Plus, it gives me a chance to look at other things under there, although that undershroud DOES prevent some of that. But I understand that some folks do not have the space/time/capabilities to do it themselves. In which case they need a good mechanic hookup, NOT Walmart, lol.

I bring my Z to Nissan since they have one mechanic who solely works on any Z brought in for service. No one else. Any questions I've asked him about it he's always given me an answer. I am skeptical about bringing any of my Nissans, especially the Z, to someplace that doesn't work on them daily. I may pay a little more but I receive gift cards here and there to make up for that. Plus peace of mind.

The most important thing is you should feel comfortable where ever you go. You want your Z running as long as she can.

 

Yup. The car is getting towed tomorrow to a a registered Nissan dealership for an inspection. I also got to choose the company to tow it. It took this long due to Walmart forgetting to add an all crucial part to their statement and claim to their insurance company. That they do in fact take full responsibility for what happened. Got it sorted out and now things are in motion. The Nissan dealer is going to do the mechanical inspection, while I am going to get a referral from them to a body shop for the paint and body repair. Also if anyone in this area has suggestions their insurance company is more than happy to allow me to choose the location for repair.

 

Glad to hear your getting things sorted out... Make sure the tow truck is a flat bed or you'll have more issues to deal with.

Somerset Nissan failed to tighten the screws on my undershroud during my second free oil change amongst a list of other things that made sure I'll never go back. Haven't let anyone under there since.

A poorly managed shop is never worth donating your car for them to practice.

May I ask where did you get that easy undershroud?

The only draw back for me, the stupid oil door, i wish it wasn't there. With an oil cooler and large oil filter I still have to remove the pan, but since the pan is a 2 piece design, it is much easier.

 

could of been worse. a friend of mine took his s2k to a honda dealership and they only hand tightened the bolt. Needless to say that lasted about 4 hours until the engine blew from the oil gushing out.

also a friend of mine had his rims mounted and balanced by discount tires and they didn't torque the nuts. This is what happened, wheel came off on the highway at 70mph, class action lawsuit ongoing.

So i never let them touch my car without me inspecting it.

 

This is why i work on my own ****. Now i gotta find where to dump the gallons of used oil in my shed.
