Please don't smoke in your 350Z. It's not good for the car.

When I first saw the subject of your thread, I thought you're afraid of second hand smoking while you're mingle with the folks here.
No one in my family smoke, including our 2 teenagers. Life is too short, don't want to make it shorter.

You know how older (if you've been forced to live with one for a while) tend to have more filmy stuff on the inside of the window? It's because the sun breaks down the dashboard material and it exhumes(?) gas material that sticks to whatever is available. Many of you may already know this, but when I was in high school, I was fascinated by the thickness of gunk on my friends 1960 something camero. There's actually a name for it, but since I typed exhume, it's gone from my mind, I think it's just exhumation. ...Not to defend cigarette smoking as it *does* create it's own film... and burns the noses of those in surrounding cars at a stoplight.

Don't eat or drink, you might spill something. Don't burn rubber, it's bad for the tires. Don't rev to redline, you'll shorten the life of the engine. Always wash your hands before touching the steering wheel or shifter. I hope you don't do anything bad like this to your car -- it's not good for it!
Hey, man, it's a free country.
I personally don't smoke but what pisses me off way more than smokers are people who get all fascist about it, even when it doesn't affect them in the least!
Sorry, off topic a bit here.

But it's not your car. Isn't it a bit rude to tell someone else what to do in their own car?

I smoke a pack a day, but I: 1) Don't smoke in my cars 2) Don't smoke in my own house and 3) Don't smoke around non-smokers. It's dirty, nasty habit and I know I need to quit. Maybe once I get my Z, I'll have the incentive since I'll be in it as much as possible and not smoking. Besides, I don't think the Z has a place to put one of those oxygen tanks.
My Cardiologist told me two weeks ago that if I didn't stop smoking I'd need the ogygen...I figured the Z would have room for either an oxygen tank or a beautiful young woman....I quit last Tuesday

Pat,
That story is incentive enough for me to quit. Did you do it cold turkey or use something? I've tried the patch and the gum, but neither really worked. I was thinking of trying that Zyban stuff.

Here's another vote for doing what you please in your own car...
I despise smoking. I watched my grandfather die slowly and very, very painfully of lung cancer -in my own house, no less, as he could no longer live by himself or afford a nursing home- and that experience will haunt me for the rest of my days. That has to be the very worst way to die- tortured HARD for twelve months. Even morphene couldn't stop him from screaming out loud at nights. (shudder)
BUT- you make a choice, and you live with the price associated with it. That's the American way- do what you want, as long as it's not huring anyone else. The price of smoking in your car is drastically lowering the resale value of said car, not to mention running the risk of dying in one of the most painful ways possible. But I say, you have the right to do it, as long as you're not forcing anyone (say, your kids) to sit in the car with you at the time. Any adults can choose not to ride with you. I know I do! Just my .02. (hey, that rhymes!)

Actually, the American way is to live the way you like and have other's pay for the consequences. I don't smoke. Should I have to pay for the health care of those who do? It may be an addiction, but to some degree, there's still some choice involved.
