Car and Driver Shootout (No Z)
I saw this on TV yesterday and was sure that the Z wiould be included, but it wasn't.
From what I can remember, It was a GTI (VW), Mini, S2000, RSX, Neon (?), and the cheap little Mercedes hatchback. It was basically a tuner shootout but a lot of them had FI so I watched with much interest.
I think they put them through a few different paces like the recent Z shootout in here that everyone is pissed about. Each car got 5 runs through a course that seemed to combine all types of tests you would be interested in as a driving enthusiast.
I'm writing this for two reasons, that is, there are two things I thought were amusing. First, they didn't give any results. They said you had to go to the website. But I couldn't find anything there, so maybe they meant you had to go to the site to get a subscription to the mag. What a waste of about 20 minutes of TV watching! Second, at least two of the cars didn't make all five runs through the test track. They weren't able to make the runs. Apparently, they had blown up! I thought it was pretty amusing because these guys are "professional" tuners hired by Car and Driver to come to this shootout, and they couldn't even keep their project from nuking!! What chance does anyone in here have of FI'ing their car!??
Merry Christmas!

This month's (January) Road & Track tests the Audi TT and the Chrysler Crossfire. No mention of the "Z" or "G" for gosh sakes. The TT is a 4 seater and the Crossfire a 2 seater. You'd have thought the "Z" or "G" or both would have been included in this article. Both are superior to the tested vehicles.

well, that episode is really old...as are all the others that rerun on spike tv, so I wouldnt be suprised if the results were no longer on the website. Secondly, the competition was titled "super flea" referring to the 4 cylinder engine found in each car.
BTW..the s2000 won

Damn, Alien, your post is pretty stupid. If you saw the test on TV, then you should've seen that the test was for 4-cylinder tuner cars. Why not include this V6, why not include that V12...I'm speechless that some people are so oblivious to certain facts. Ridiculous!

well if you want to see the 350z in a comparo so bad, pick up the newest copy of sportcompact car.
they have a sweet yellow 350z owned by James Chen. the best part is the yellow paint, it looks so good in yellow!

What I liked about that comparo is the stock vette that killed them all. What I'd like to see is something like a $50K comparo - any car under $50K in price + mods competing, i.e stock vette, Z with $15K in mods, Civic with $25K in mods, etc...
Cause, really, that's what it comes down to; any car can be made faster than any other car given the right amount of $$$Also, was that test only on the track, or did they do a streetability test like they do for tuned cars, too?
BTW, enigma, might wanna reread your sig there; think you're missing some words.
