I have a 2003 350z. and I know rear drive car sucks in the snow weather but I am living in TX it doesn't snow that a lot
However, i found it slip more often than I thought even if on the dry road. specially when i accerlate and make turns (even if under 20mph) I never hard drive it. ANd the situation getting worse on the wet road - even if there is only a little bit wet, the slip light kicks in and I lost power the car shakes.
I am wondering is that normal for a rear drive car, specially for 350z? b/c I used to drive a 96 corolla which is fwd car and i can drive 70mph in raining day w/o problem. now i have to be like a grandma in raining day.
Also, if I turn off TCS does that help me a bit?
Thanks

Your old corolla isn't even on the same planet as your Z. Please for the sake of your future on the forums never compare the two again, lol.
The DE's are a torquey engine (more than the Rev-up and HR from the factory), I also can easily get the slip light to come on if I'm rolling into the throttle down around 20mph. RWD Sports car on wet road = being a little more cautious/aware of the way your car handles. Just tone it down a little if you feel you need to. I prefer to go a little slower in the rain with my Z to make sure I don't hit water I can't see and pull a 540 across the interstate.
For your own good lets keep that TCS turned on for now...get used to her first...if possible, go track it or hit up an autocross. Then cut your TCS off and see how she really does on the throttle and in the turns. It's how I got to know mine.
Happy Driving

It is amazing that people don't understand rear wheel drive automobiles. They drive fine in the rain and snow. Until the mid-1980's virtually all cars were rear wheel drive. People drove them in all kinds of weather without problems. You just need to learn to drive. Then you will be ok. My Z is a base without the electronic gizmos and I have no problem driving in any weather conditions.

^^^ Exactly. Get some new rear tires (probably worn down) and learn to drive a car with power. Stay off the gas until you're headed in a straight line.
If you don't learn to get it under control, you'll be posting a thread like this one...

It's a touring, front 225/50/17, rear 235/50/17. I got this car 4 months ago not sure if the previous own had changed the tire or not. If it sounds abnormal then i should probably have it checked.

I have gotten that also. And well within car and driver limits.
If the car is running ok listen to it. If not and you get a service
engine light do diagnosis. Could be a sensor, I got a code-PO335
CKP sensor. Crankshaft Position Sensor A malfunction. I changed
it and now runs fine but to quick around a corner and SLIP.

If your car came stock, brand new with 17's, they did in some countries, those would be the correct specs for the stock 17's.
