04.5 to 05 , then 07 to 08 seem to be the best. i would have no problem buying anything other than an 06 6mt car.

That gives you plenty of time to read and study everything here. You will be a 350Z pro by then.

Check Consumer Reports and search on here as well. You'll find what you are looking for.

Good luck.

The MOST reliable would be the Nismo... Since almost everything about that car is beefed-up/upgraded from a regular Z...

But if you're talking about regular 350z, Skip 03-04, go with 4.5/05 (I'm pretty sure you can't identify 4.5 since you're pretty new to the forum... Just go with 2005 model), skip 06, go for 2007 and up (08 for coupe, 09 for roadster).

like stated 04.5-05, and 07-08, unless you want automatic then you can also go for a 06

same. 06 is better than 05, 04, and 03 as a whole. unless you know better than nissan. my 06 has no trans problems and i rip into second pretty hard. i dont down shift like a retard and i usually rev match in neutral if im at high rpm by habbit. i hear the 07-08s can and do make more power but ive heard the HR has oil proplems. I personally came to the conclusion that the 06 is great due to more torque than the HR (torque makes a car get up to speed better than hp), more HP, torque and rpm than the 03-04 models, the non brembo brakes are great (and better than the 03-04 as far as ive heard), and has worked out the quirks of the 03-04 trans.
also the hood on the 06 looks better than the 07-08 IMO.
the most recent VQ35DE 350z FTW for me. put YOUR priorities in order and decide for yourself.

edit: on the models> If you drive real well and like to race it. the base model would be best IMO. the base has no BS traction control or VDSC, it will never cut power and you will have full control of the car. its also the lightest car of the bunch.

my 06 is great, consumes oil but still runs like a champ... the main problem for me in the 06 is the updated interior. I like the design but it scratches way too easy, its like they took a grey/silver plastic and just painted it black instead of it being a black plastic

as long as an 06 doesnt have the oil consumption problem your good to go. Theres nothing wrong with an 03 either just some minor people complain about tire feathering and tranny but the problems were minimal. Any year is good just look for one that hasnt been beat on.

I've heard that Z's before 04.5 have a few issues.
Rather, I feel that the way you drive your car and how well you maintain your car will take your further.

IMO, don't buy some guy's toy Z...as it was probably driven hard.
