Default Question about ordering a Z

well, soon hopefully around april or so i should be getting my Z, if i go to order one, will i pay msrp or do the dealers jack up the price on them if you order them too, and can you bargain with the dealer on ordered ones or do they just give you a price and it's take it or leave it? or does it just depend what dealership you go to, also if anyone knows of any good dealerships around washington please let me know

The price is negotiable on ordered Zs, but how much of a discount you get will depend heavily on the dealership.

Shop around using phone and internet. You'll find lovest prices in big cities. Chicago for sure. Just call and ask they best price after letting them know you are calling from far. Don't let distance scare you. You'll make break-in on your way back. Best deals I've heard is 3-4K below MSRP.

Why not buy it in Oregon? Tax free right?

Go to Nissan.com and build/store the "Z" you want from the wheels up. How far are you willing to drive or fly. Then start doing search using Zip codes. The system will come back with dealers, number of cars they have to include a percentage of match against what you loaded into Nissan.com

In less than 30 days, I found a 100% match. I even had the Vin number. Once the dealer knew I was serious we started talking price, does he deliver or do I pick up and will I be flying or driving to his location? I did not pay MSRP, I picked up so price to deliver removed, airline ticket paid for, saved on taxes and driving home was fantastic, plus reduced time to reach "breakin" mileage.

Default i hate car dealerships (long)

well i went to the dealership in tacoma today just to see if they had any end of the year sales going on, cuz i've heard they have big sales at the end of the year. all they had was one thousand dollars off, they had a silver touring model which is what i want but it didn't have the nav. anyways i went in there just to if they had any sales, so then the salesman comes out and talks me into taking it for a drive, now i'm in no position to buy a car as of right now but if he could make the payments where i want them then of course i'd buy it, we took it for a drive and it was my first time and i LOVED it so we get back and we go sit and talk and filled out all of the papers and junk and while he was gone i looked up on the calculator if i could afford it and i was pretty far off so i just wanted to leave, btw, they had it marked up 5 thousand dollars as some northwest market adjustment, anybody else have to pay this? i think that's just crazy, he says they have to do it to pay the cost of employees and the dealership and junk but a couple months ago i saw that on an rx8 and the salesman told me its just pure profit, anyways the salesman comes back and says we'll have a lot of work to do, the car came to 39,000 before tax and license and that kind of stuff and they were only going to give me 6,000 for my car which i think is a slap in the face btw, anybody want to buy a slightly modded honda accord i want my monthly payments to be at about 400, now remember i wasn't planning on going in there and leaving with the car, just wanted to check things out, i'm actually going to try and put down about 10 grand if i can and see where that gets me, so i tell him what i want and he says that cant happen, so i'm like ok, then he starts getting mad, he's like so what did you come here for, you should know you can't afford this car, and i was like i can afford it i just don't want to pay that much a month, he says i should have figured all of my finances and junk out before coming in, but i didn't know they'd have such a shitty sale and wouldn't give me anything for my car, so i just went to look, so we argue a little bit, then he's like, well if i can get you in the car for 400 a month would you do it, and i say of course i would, so he gets on the stupid phone and asks if it can be done, and gets off and he's like, well congratulations 398 a month the car is yours and stick's out is hand to shake mine, and i'm like wtf? how'd you do that? so i go to shake his hand and he pulls his back and laughs at me, and he's like yeah right, at about that moment i wanted to reach over the desk and kick the **** out of him so anyways i'm pissed off and need to find a good dealership

Don't walk run from that dealership. Never tell them what payment you want. Work from the invoice price.

They’re giving you the typical bum’s rush. Playing you for a sucker.

Best thing you can do is research the car you want and options and get a price fixed in your own mind (sounds like you’ve mostly done that already), and then arrange financing before you visit the dealer. Dealer financing is a snake pit and they’ll work with their salesmen to run the price up on you with all kinds of useless extras like window etching, environmental packages, etc. They’ll try to lure you in with low interest rates, but you’ll never get them. They’ll tell you your credit isn’t good enough and stick you with a high interest rate.

Don’t start with monthly payments. Start with the total cost of the car. You can adjust monthly payments later by playing with time. Try to join a credit union, if you aren’t a member already. If you can’t do that a bank is your next best bet. After you’ve got your down payment together, then you can arrange a loan and go looking for your car. Tell the dealer you’ve already got financing and the price you’d like to pay (try starting $2000 below MSRP and then work up from there.) and tell the dealer you don’t want anything on the car that didn’t come from the factory. If he says anything about mark-ups, regional mark-ups, market mark-ups, etc., Turn and leave immediately. That dealer is trying to screw you and won’t stop until they find some other way to do it.

You can order from the factory and wait about three months. Most dealers will happily do that for MSRP, but you may be able to talk them down a bit. I am not sure about Nissan, but some car companies will put your name on the window sticker if you order from the factory, which is kinda neat. The dealer will ask for a small deposit, usually under $1000. The deposit is refundable. If the dealer says it isn’t, walk away and find another dealer.

When the car arrives, its’ still the dealer’s car and he can sell it to someone else if he wants to. Most won’t, but I have heard of ordered cars being sold because someone walked in at the last minute and offered a few extra grand. Best not to delay after the car arrives.
