I need advice on another "how much is my car worth" topic
My wife and I have been needing to get another car more friendly for our 10 month old. And I just no longer have the time or extra money to invest in my Z.
The problem is, i just spent 2 months and a good bit of 1k trying to get another engine i had into the car because mine was smoking. Turns out, the 2nd engine had an issue and I ended up finding out that my original problem was valve seals. So i replaced all 24 of them. Car worked great afterwards and I only drove it 1-2 times a week. Then one day from work the battery went bad (it was at least 5 years old) and the car was quitting on my when i stopped and the RPMs dropped. I was about 5 miles from home so i just cranked it everytime it went dead and made my way home. In the middle of this, i start hearing a "tapping" sound. thought it was a knock at first but had multiple people tell me it sounds like its coming from the cam area. I remove the plenum and rocker cover on that side and see nothing. I think it sounds like a valve is stuck but do not have the time or energy to do anything further with it. So i decided to just sell it as is or remove the engine and sell it as a rolling chassis.
But my problem is, i do not know how much it should be worth. I see z's with missing parts and damaged listed for sale as rolling chassis and they want anywhere from $6500 - $9500 for a 2003! that sounds high to me but im unfamiliar with the market anyway.
It is a 2003 Touring PPW with black leather interior. No GPS. 150k on the chassis
I have installed: 06 tail lights, 06 front bumper, jwt pop charger, jwt clutch and flywheel, berk test pipes, megan y-pipe and ebay headers, hypertech tune that i was a beta tester for, hotchkis sways, tokico d-spec struts, eibach springs, g35 wheels with plenty of tread left
any help or suggestions i would really appreciate. Obviously the faster its gone, the faster my wife gets off my ***. haha.
opinions welcome.
thanks

yeah to be honest, tell the buyer about the issues, but if tis a knock, its a knock.
If tis not, theres a million things that ALWAYS sound like a nice clatter up top on our cars.
That being said, look it up on KBB.com and sell it on the mid to low side and be done w it.. a part out? Of course not.
Juts price it for fast sale..
if it were I, id say nothing of the above, unles you truly feel youre engines going to blow... but honestly, theyre going to give you wholesale for it anyways, who cares.
Its an easy way to get your 7k out of the car and have it help your financing at the same time.
and id go price a new or new used car, then only after the initial pricing is done, start talking about a trade in, they WILL o course back up on thier price offer a bit, and they should, after all, Youre introducing new info after theyve already wrote a deal for you.. BUT.. youll be closer to the price you want than stating trade in right off the bat.
Thats smart advice for ya id say.

honestly, if i thought a dealership would give me what i owe i would drop it off. but im scared they wouldnt even touch it given its age.
Kelly Blue Book that's what your car is worth. Then try dropping half for the lack of engine.

What auction are you talking about? That is probably way off the mark I bet on ebay some one would ****** it up easily for 5k, but I wouldn't take less than 6 for it. It has a running motor with a knock, the point is it cranks and thats better than not turning over at all.
