Default I think my Z may be totaled...

So I was driving to work yesterday about to make a left turn to a street when I was rear ended. Dude tried to swerve and miss me but he didnt. On top of that when his vehicle came to a rest he ran off on foot through the woods I walked up to his vehicle (not knowing that he left) to find an empty van with beer cans everywhere including one that was half consumed. All in all Im kind of disappointed. I just paid my Z off 2 weeks ago. I wasnt really planning on getting rid of it and it just sucks to think of trying to replace it. Im ok, my neck is a little sore but thats normal for a rear end accident. Its an 03 with 86k miles on it. What do you guys think? The wheel is jacked up and out of position so im pretty sure some of the suspension is messed up and Im sure my rear differential case has been busted due to the bearing race lying on the tow truck. I havent jacked it up to verify though.

Wow, that sucks that you just paid it off. Hopefully insurance takes care of you.

Hopefully whoever was driving that van (whether it's the owner or not) gets what he deserves in court.

Thanks guys. They havent caught the driver yet. Im not sure if they will though. This is a very common practice for hispanics in the area (not being racist, know from experience). The driver will be drunk, wreck, and flee the scene on foot. The tag was registered to a hispanic name as well. Then the person will have a fake name etc.

The insurance adjuster is coming out tomorrow so we will see what he has to say.

It is very expensive to repair the rear quarter panel areas of the Z. If the inner fenderwell area gets damaged, the cost goes way up.

Sorry.

It's probably totaled, but you honestly don't want something like that back. I would try to push insurance towards totaling it because the value of your car will go down now that it has been hit. Since the car is over 5 years old, if it gets fixed, they will pay you "diminished value" for being hit. Get the pay out (which is usually a little more than true value) and get one in perfect condition. Best of luck to you.
