I bought and installed the HP struts and I don't like them too much. Yeah, they make sure that your hatch doesn't fall down but it takes an amount of force to close that shouldn't be needed (yes it's the HP not UHP). I have a spoiler too. When I push it down to close I feel like i'm going to break something. I don't think I've ever heard of someone with the same problem so maybe they accidentally sent me UHP struts?
I have to find some who wants to split a pair, mine hatch stays up in warmer weather and I have no wing. So I don't need 2 I know one will do
Same here, but trust me, one good strut and one "bad" strut, is not a good idea, the torsion and forces exerted will be a mess, you'll end up with a twisted hatch.

No, I installed mine and have to use some force to actually pull it down too. I was actually wondering how much stronger the UHP one's are if it takes so much to close these normal ones.
at 78k miles my OEM hatch struts haven't hurt me.. yet.
just now going on the whole, "hit the release/button twice to open", if you guys know what i'm talking about.

Mine and a friends car has been set up like this for 2 years now, no problems. They don't have enough force to bend the hatch.

My feelings towards the Z1 HP struts are mixed. On one hand, the kit provided seems to be first-rate, with high quality parts. However, I must agree that closing the hatch is overly difficult. Seems like Z1 could have better duplicated the OEM struts in this respect.

You don't WANT it to duplicate the OEM struts. The OEM aren't strong enough to keep the hatch up. Yes they're tougher to shut because they're higher pressure struts.
