You don't WANT it to duplicate the OEM struts. The OEM aren't strong enough to keep the hatch up. Yes they're tougher to shut because they're higher pressure struts.

Hmm, see, the OEM *are* strong enough to do the job, the problem is, they fail early.
My worn out OEM hold the hatch up fine so long as it's over 45 degrees.
