Default What do you think of my build/mods so far? what do you have?

So I was just wondering what yall think of my car and build soo far. I plan on racing it I am just always caught up and extremely busy and so have missed most of the track days that I have tried getting to, and unfortunately right now am deployed overseas, so the only pics I have is the one in my garage, however that front bumper has been painted.

right now, its an 05 base model with about 105000 miles. the looks im not so worried about because one day I plan on this being a full on race car.

here is the list of what is installed right now;

JWT clutch - really needed a new clutch when I bought the car
Pivot Ball
JWT lightweight Flywheel - doing the clutch so why not both
SS Clutch line
Tomei 2 way LSD - so far, my most favorite mod absolutely LOVE it
Stoptech Slotted Rotors - others heated up wayyy too quickly
SS brake lines
Hawk HPS pads
Invidia Q300 Catback Exhaust - bought from member on here
Kinetix Test Pipes

Here is what I bought and is at home just waiting for me to install, I am soo ready to get home, not much longer. This is what I got though;

JWT Popcharger
Motordyne 5/16 plenum spacer
Osiris Tuner engine management - getting it tuned at Z1
SPL Front Outer Tie Rod Ends
SPL Solid Differential mounting Bushings
SPL V3 front upper Camber Arms
PBM Rear Camber Arms
PBM Rear Toe Rods
PBM True Style Coilovers - Backordered til June 12

So just let me know what yall think so far

and, WHAT DO YOU HAVE??

Check this section for some track specific advice: https://my350z.com/forum/autocross-road-305/

I'm just a noob, but some things that I would consider-

IMO, safety equipment should come first:
1) Rollbar w/harness bar
2) Seat with bolsters
3) 5/6 pt harness
4) Good helmet
5) Good driving shoes
6) Good driving gloves
7) extinguisher

Driver mod should be next:
1) AutoX and HPDE events

Additional mods to consider for performance/competition:
1) lockout bolts
2) lightweight, forged wheels
3) dedicated track tires (on the above wheels)
4) upgrade brakes and rotors to something bigger
5) CD009 tranny
6) Depending on your tire height and type of track, you may decide to change the gear ratios
7) Coilovers for adjustable height and rebound
8) Front and rear diffusers for down force
9) Salad bar wing if necessary for additional down force at high speed tracks
10) Finned diff cover
11) Oil cooler
12) Strip/gut car for lightening purposes
13) Dry Carbon fiber hatch
14) Dry Carbon fiber doors
15) Dry carbon fiber body panels

Also, I'd recommend keeping spares of the following (even if it's just your OEM stuff) on-hand for track days so you don't waste a day or have to tow it home if something breaks:

1) all fluids
2) extra set of wheels & tires
3) all suspension arms
4) front and rear end links
5) zip ties
6) duct tape
7) floor jack & jack stands
8) tools
9) pvc & string (if you need to do your alignment track-side after replacing a suspension component) - otherwise keep your arms & endlinks preconfigured to matching lengths & labeled for driver/passenger side and use lockout bolts

I do agree with the safety, however right now my z is kinda half and half my daily driver right now, its either the z or a motorcycle, so depends on weather, so on and so forth.

with that being said, I do have a good helmet, a couple actually, and gloves, however the seat, well, the stock seats do an ok job of keeping me there for now, and the 5 point belts I have not looked too far into that yet.

The driver mod, def extremely important, thats why these are the last of my mods until I have lots of track time, and then I someday want to take it a bit further, but for now its not quite worth it to me for the additional performance/competition mods except for maybe the finned dif cover, lockout bolts and oil cooler, I already have the coilovers in mind because this car stock has some serious body roll. I might get some sway bars in the near future as well.

is the Tomei 2 way LSD not a REAL DIF??

it is by far my most favorite mod on the car so far granted I have no other dif's to compare it to other than my stock open one. but with that being said, the only way I would prolly change it again is if this one craps out on me.

Sorry about that, I thought you already had them. I'd definitely suggest sway bars (and adjustable endlinks if you're changing the suspension geometry or ride height).

yeah I really thought about that, and that is one reason why I wanted a couple of opinions, because right now, I do still have control on whether or not to get the PBM arms and rods, I'm waiting on the coilovers to be in stock and just order that stuff all at once, but ill look a little more into just going all SPL

My bad , just noticed . End links yes, I would ditch the PBM coilovers and pick something else. The PBM arms look good/ interesting, worth a try.

Do you have OEM Brembo brakes.

I thought I did not need end links until I got different sway bars? I need to go back through these suspension threads again.

the PBM's from the few things I have heard seemed pretty good and beefy, have you heard differently, anyone else have input on these?
I dont remember seeing these on the coilovers review section, I may have missed it, Ill go look again though.

no, they are the base model, still got 17" wheels non-oem brakes, however, i do have stoptech powerslotted rotors, Hawk pads, and SS lines eventually ill get a BBK .

Front end links are how you adjust toe in/out, so if you're going to be lowered, I recommend them so you can keep your alignment in spec and not go through tires quickly.

Ok, Ill definitely go back over it again, because thats what I am trying to avoid as best as possible considering the fact that Ill be going through tires at an accelerated rate anyways, but then again, my father works for bridgestone - so I can get good tires extremely cheap anyways

I guess they keep track of how many miles you put on them too? Or do you have to turn them back in when you get another set?

I'm not trying to work the system. I'm just curious.

well, only so many sets of tires are allowed to be purchased per year per car, and considering the fact i drift on them, I use all of the sets every year, then I have to turn elsewhere for tires but at least the tires I do get from them are 1. cheap 2. free mount, balance 3. no labor costs 4. I got the lifetime alignment from them for like 100 bux or something like that I forget.
so i have no complaints.

Sweet deal. I need to find a female executive at Hankook that needs a boy toy - so I can score a tire deal. They've been taking a lot of my money since I bought the Z.

BTW, are you going to ZDayz?

well, frankly, I would absolutely love to go, the Dragon is my favorite road especially in this car, I'm not a big fan of riding it on my bike, I get too scared up there with everyone else driving it for my bike. Unfortunately, right now I am deployed overseas, and i dont get home til sometime in June but then again thats why I was able to afford all these parts sooo theres ups and downs with it all.

yeah, I dont think I would mind a girl that works at any of those places, hankook, falken so on so forth, but for now, Im happy with my bridgestones, not bad tires in my opinion.

I'd take the same deal at Bridgestone as well, sorry if that came across the wrong way… I've just been running the Hankook tires because I tried them and liked them, so why change… I'm not smart enough or a good enough driver to know which are better than another.

i took absolutely no offense to it whatsoever, to each his own, some people like these tires others like those some "awesome people" like 350z's... others, "pitiful & far from awesome" people like the subaru wrx but then again like i said, to each his own, everyone is entitled to personal opinions, if anything I would just voice mine over another and my reasons, but if you have valid reasons behind yours I would never rag anyone for that. Im sure if my father didnt work fro bridgestone, I would prolly def be running something of less quality I know scary but I really dont know what I would do without his discount lol.

Isn't a 2 way bad (less desirable) for road racing?
