Yikes! Glad it wasn't a 'totalled thread'. Glad you're okay. Hopefully insurance covers most of it.

Didn't anybody ever tell you to leave the car in Reverse? Never depend on the E-brake.

Yea should have left it in gear obviously lol, but on the bright side maybe I can get a different rear bumper put on.

Insurance should be covering it all luckily.

Yea I plan to keep it in gear from now on. lesson learned I suppose, I normally leave it in gear but I just didn't for some reason.

I'm having a hard time finding a rear bumper that will work with my exhaust unfortunately, may just go with OEM.

Ouch is right.. Bummer. I actually hardly ever use my parking brake, unless parked on an incline(which I try to never do in the first place). I always leave it in 1st gear when parked. Ha.. my 200SX did that once, long time ago. Went in to a deli to buy something parked right out front came out and the car like 60ft away against a retaining wall..lol..

No damage though , must have been a slow roll. Not sure how it happened as it was an automatic..oh well.

I hope the cost isn't too much to get her fixed up.

If you're facing uphill, you put the car in 1st gear so it doesn't roll back. If you're facing downhill you put the car in reverse so it doesn't roll forward.

Seriously? Do you really think the direction of the gearing has anything do to with stopping it from rolling? The reason you put it in gear is so the stopped engine will hold the car still.

Get a couple of your buddies and go out on a level surface and put your car in reverse and have them try to push it backward then get on the other end and push it forward. Do the same in 1st. Any difference?

An automatic MUST be left in PARK. That's why they have that setting. Drive 30 MPH and turn off the engine. See, the car coasts to a stop. There's nothing in the drive train to stop it when it's in F/R/N.

I dont think it matters what gear you put it in. The car doesn't roll regardless of what gear or decline/incline.
