Maybe it's in good condition because it spent most of its time parked in a shop waiting to be fixed.

Personally, I don't want a car that's had more than 1-2 owners. Seven really makes me suspicious of some underlying problem.

+1

I went with my 2003 since it was a 1-owner for over 8 years (45,000 miles at the time). Keep looking and you'll find the one.

On top of that, just because the carfax says it's clean doesn't necessarily mean it really is.
Although it's a good estimator of the reliability and history of the car, accidents and such can be kept from going onto insurance and carfax.
The 7 owners points to this.

If it's the exact car you want, then make your own decision. If you get it and it ends up sh!tting out on you, then you'll just learn from your mistakes.

Good luck!

Agree.

7 owners in 9 years would be questionable for me. Each owner keeping the car an average of 15 months. How do you maintain any continuity with the car switching owners? Does one owner just pass problems to the next? Instead of spending bucks on periodic maintenance looks like one owner just passes the car to the next owner.

my friend took a gamble on a 5-owner s2k. He still has it and it's in tip top shape. Another friend played safe and bought a 1-owner g35, he's currently going broke fixing everything on it.

Just inspect the car thoroughly. A car can be cared for through 5 owners or been trashed by one.

^^^
True, but the chances of him getting screwed over is way higher with a 7 owner vehicle (Compared to one or two).

I would never even consider buying a car that has had 7 owners, unless I was looking for a sub-$1000 car.

Theres always going to be exceptions. Im the 5th owner of my 04 Ive had very few problems. The few ive had were either routine or my own fault. I paid 25% under market value so to me it was worth the gamble. Seven owners though? Unless you have every maintenance record and know each owner personally, Id pass.

If it was mechanically perfect and $7k I'd say go ahead.
Any other price seems off.

There is def some issue. 7 owners is excessive. At best.

Wow, that car got around.. I would just pay or find a mechanic friend that knows what to look for and have them inspect it.

Best of luck!

Nonetheless will take a mechanic who knows a good deal about 350z's to inspect the car, also will try to take it to local dealership to run tests on computer. Like one guy said it could be 7 owner car in tip top shape or could not, doesn't hurt to find out. Thanks guys for the opinions I truly appreciate it
I'm in no way trying to be a d!ck, but it sounds to me like you already had your mind made before you posted here.

Regardless, I think you're making the right decision by getting it checked out by a dealership and a mechanic because 7 owners doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong with it.

Good luck, let us know what you find out.

This is exactly right. I bought a Carfax for my Z and it said guaranteed no hail, flood, salvage, etc.. I found out through my insurance that it actually had a hail claim filed on it 5 years ago. I contacted Carfax and they were absolutely no help at all, they just emailed me "fine print" crap.

I feel the same way after reading that post. Sometimes when you want something really badly you try and justify buying it as much as you can to make it a good idea in your head. Sometimes you have to step back and look at it from an objective point of view and not from the point of view of someone who reeeaalllly wants a new Z.

Either way, won't hurt to get it checked out. Good luck!
