Default Is the Nav worth it?

I drive a fair amount for work and I have been thinking about getting the Nav when I order my car(Looking to buy in Jan/Feb time frame). Could you tell me if the Nav is reliable-does it get you were you need to go and how hard is it to program? I'm not worried about the cost but I just want to see what people think about it. It looks really cool but $1900 just for a cool screen doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

I guess that $1800+ is the standard price for a nav in any car. I really don't feel there is a NEED for this in any car. But if you WANT it than I guess it's a reasonable price.

$2000 is a LOT of money. You could probably pick up a whole other (used) car for that kind of money.

Nav is like a cell phone. You never needed it before you got it, and now that you've got one, you don't know how you ever did without it. After 1 day, my impressions are: Love the birdeye view, but don't think its quite as user friendly as the Lexus IS300 one in our other car. I'm sure its just the unfamiliarity though. On one stretch of road in rural NC, it gave us a turn to get on a parallel hiway, and there was no entrance there. Other than that, its a very useful tool.

Why would you need a Nav in a sport car for?
My sentiments exactly.

Look at some of the aftermarket deals that you can find. The Nav only does that, Nav. However if you get the aftermarket Fahrenheit LCD screen, that fits the Nav space compartment like the OEM LCD, and an aftermarket head unit that does DVD, CD, MP3, you can have the NAV and then some and probably save yourself some money as well.

You might want to do a search on this site. This topic has been beaten to death.

The end result is... get the nav if you want it, move on if you don't want it.

However, please stop saying the navigation system is bad, only to find out it is the money issue.

For me, the nav was a must. I wouldn't have purchased the Z without one. It was hard to switch to a car from a small pickup. I had to have a serious change. The Z is "all that." It is beautiful AND powerful. Every angle looks incredible. For the cool factor, the navigation system is "all that."

To the comments of nav systems not good in a sports car. This is true for, say, a Formula 1 car, etc., but not a street car. The Z is flaming awesome. A must buy. But it is a daily driver too.

For the cool factor alone, the nav is worth it. For the useful factor, it again is worth it.

In the end, it is your subjective choice that matters to you. If you think the nav is too much, then don't get it. That doesn't make the nav worthless, it makes it out of your spending reach. If you think the nav is bad for you, then simply don't get it. However, if you are like me, you will think it is a must-get.

Some people will insult the nav as a bad choice, simply to justify themselves not getting one. Take the optional side air-bags. I didn't get them, but I still think they are a good choice for many people.

Regards,
Todd
