thinking of trading the z
Cody, been there done that. When I was 17 (29 years ago) I owned a 1967 Firebird 400, worked to the max, in excellent condition. The Firebird is like the Camaro, only better. I got bored of it by the time I was 20. In contrast, I still own and love my first Z, a '91 300ZX, and just recently added a 350Z to boot. Unless this Camaro was done up by Overhaulin', or your Z is ready for the scrap heap (are you in the 1 quart a month club?) or both, I think you'd be unhappy. Even monetarily it's a terrible deal. By the way, why would you buy a Z and not use it? It's a car. It's a Nissan. Properly taken care of it will last well past 200k miles. You said you couldn't drive it 160 miles a day yet you'll trade it away for a dinosaur? Cody, my '91's got 190k, runs like the day I drove it home and is showing no signs of quitting. Do this trade and you'll be giving up a T-bone for a white castle.
I disagree.
OP already has another DD.
If you are a mechanic/body guy - i would do the trade. Get the camaro inspected first - bring a camaro forum member with you to spot known trouble spots.
The Z is great (don't get me wrong - but if the car trade values make sense (and they should depending on the condition of the camaro)...
And then get another Z one day as the DD

The rolling chassis alone of a 69' camaro in decent shape would be as valuable as your car. I would definately make that trade if the camaro is in good shape. Heres the difference: put money into your Z, probably never see the money again. With the camaro your efforts will likely be rewarded when you go to sell it.
Now speaking strictly from the stand point of which car is more fun to drive....The Z hands down.

If he is a mechanic, hell yes for your Z, but if not, good luck. I would never trade mine because I've taken care of it for 8 years with extreme care and grandpa-style type driving. I've seen classic and Harley offers for Zs, but I would never do it because like some have said, a modern car and one of a kind styling. In life, I always tell people this, do whatever makes you happy.
