How do your interior body panels look? I'd be a buyer for some pieces that aren't scratched, previous owner demolished mine.
No, those weren't mine, I slid from the other direction.

Question for anyone that has been in this situation:

Will they allow me to remove the parts I've just put on the car (like diff, plenum spacer, or even my tune from the accessport) if they total it and don't give me the option to buy it back?

Damn it happens. I almost got into an accident when I first got my Z because I wasn't used to RWD and almost 300hp.

Damn bro that sucks! I hate people that come on to the on ramp and instead of merging they stop! Like WTF! Glad you are okay though. The car can be replaced.

Depends, when I got T-Boned in my g37s the towing company took the car. We called the insurance and said they aren't gonna pay for it being held there so we took it and had it for about a week before the adjuster came. We took everything we could off that car and swapped it lol
So yes, you can take pieces of it off. Just don't exaggerate

For instance, I need a passenger door handle with the lock, sell me it and say that **** flew off
Also interested in the plenum spacer if it's still in usable condition

Good to hear, and lol.

The Z is currently parked in front of my apartment after a long talk with Geico (they actually lost the car, found it, and I had them tow it to my place). Parts will be for sale as early as Friday (when the adjuster comes out) but will be off the car Wednesday. I'm honestly not sure what will be salvageable (I wasn't able to get a good look under the hood, although I believe the Plenum was untouched), it was dark and I was too frantic to really asses the damage. I plan on just taking out the Diff pumpkin, and putting the stock one in the hatch, removing the plenum spacer, audio system, and un-marrying the AccessPort. If they decide not to total it, or give me a buy back option, I will probably keep everything for a tube front drift machine, but I'm not holding my breath.

typically the rule is if you take something out you must replace it. ie. aftermarket stereo with factory stereo.

Sorry to see this OP. But hey this can open doors to something better. There is always a positive side.

Front/Rear Shocks + Front Right bearing to 28379.

Highly interested.

It was right over coachman, one exit down from sunset.

Yes you should. I never thought something like this would happen, and don't consider myself a 'noob' driver, but it all happens so fast.

Just got word that Geico won't allow me to buy it back unless I know someone with an auto auction license and buy it from the auction company. The adjust (my 3rd one from geico, wtf?!?!) told me that I could take my added parts off, but can't strip the car. I'm going to fight with geico corporate, but I don't think it'll do any good. Because there is frame damage, state of Florida says it's totaled. Will know more tonight.

Thanks for all the support guys.

Did the car that cut you off stop? Or anyone else who saw what happened? Were you found to be at fault?

Florida is a no-fault state so your own insurance has to cover your damages no matter who's fault the accident was.

No, he kept going. Two people pulled over to make sure I was okay, but they were too far back, and didn't know what happened. They left before the police arrived, so I was found at fault, which doesn't make too much difference in this state.

They're totaling it, it's official. Only giving me 12.5k for it, but gap will cover the other 2.5k. I will be pulling the tune, plenum spacer, and audio system, but don't have the time or tools to pull the diff, so my almost brand new carbonetics 1.5 way will go to who ever wins the auction. I'm not going to have enough money to buy it back. Looking at a built wrx, probably can't spin that into a wall, lol. I'll make a FS, but I'm not able to pull any other parts off the car.
