accidently shift !!.. help me out
im a manual driver for 2 days since i just got it yesterday and i was on my way to the gas station at local for abt 25. i wasn't payin attention to the rpm and barely the speed, i just shift when i feel like i need to. i was at 2nd gear and want to shift to 3rd gear, so i push the clutch and shift to 3rd and when i step on the gas , i figure the loud noise is not right , so i immidiately push back the clutch and shift to neutral then shift to 3rd just to make sure im in the correct gear. i wonder if a miss shift like the one im doing today is gonna break the car or not. im kinda worry if i do it again at freeway now since its a high speed.

sounds like a gear grind. It probably was not in gear all the way, when you stepped on the gas. It would of happened anyways if you were almost into third gear..
Anywhos practice driving manual, preferably on another car if you don't want overhaul you transmission anytime soon..
ohs you will need to learn quickly too.. You're in SF, GAWD DAMN inclines are scary..

You did not hurt a thing if you went to 5th gear and lugged it a bit. Didn't hurt much if you ground the gears by mis-shifting either, most of us have done that once or twice, I'm guessing. But long term it is not recommended for either.

Good God man, is your first language English? If so...then just wow. GRAMMAR! But anyway, I'm guessing (from that jumbled mess of words you wrote) that you didn't depress the clutch all the way, or let the clutch out too soon before you were in gear. Just keep practicing, and you'll be driving your Z fine in no time.

The car will be fine, just try not to make a habit of it...everyone has to learn at some point in time, however I might consider learning the fundamentals of how to actually drive a manual first before beating on your car to hard.
Best of luck and enjoy the new car.

2nd to 5th will cause no damage, he'll I usually shift from 2nd to 4th and 4th to 6th. If you miss shifted and found neutral, you jut revved it while not in gear, no big deal either.

I agree that 2-5 will cause no damage. But 'loud noise' to me would mean some sort of unusual noise, not just the sound of the engine revving in N. Maybe the OP doesn't know the difference or can't describe the difference between a revving engine and grinding gears.

The only way to fix/reverse the damage is to do the opposite:
1) get on the freeway and reach freeway speeds (60-70 mph)
2) Make sure your in 5th gear (the gear you miss shifted on the first time)
3) push the clutch in and shift to 2nd gear
4) let go of the clutch and floor it
This should save you plenty of money on repairs

OP you sure you didn't **** from 2nd to 1st which would cause the rpm's to spike, resulting in a loud engine noise? lol
