Default Z got backed into by a hummer

I parked behind my dad because all spaces were filled. One of the worst decisions I've made by far lol
He backed into me and at first, it looked like it was just the quarter panel and light that was broken.

But when I drove it home that night I lost all power. After 3000rpm it just didn't pick up at all, took about 25-30 seconds to get to 80mph
Couldn't figure out what the hell it was. So I got home, disconnected my battery and let it sit the night. Connect the negative terminal again and start driving, car worked so I was happy. That night I was on my way home and it did the same problem, I couldn't for the life of me figure out why that was happening.
So I thought to myself what I did differently at night then I did that morning. First thing to come to my mind was my headlights, but I figured no that couldn't be it. I turn off the lights just to rule out the obvious and bam all the power was back -_-. Then I noticed with my headlights on the brake lights would also turn and stay on, leaving my car undriveable at night So the only conclusion I'm under is that the impact pinched or seperated a ground wire, other than that I'm clueless.
Anyways, I took it to the body shop that always works on my cars (Does an amazing job and always hooks it up) Looking at about $300 to fix the quarter panel and another $100 to paint up all the chip marks all around the car + depending on how difficult the wiring is anywhere from $0-$50. Hopefully he figures it all out or I'll have to bring it to nissan and hope they service it lol
I'll keep you guys updated

You're not going to get that 1/4 panel properly repaired for $300 and painted for $100, and $50 for the wiring? Smoke much crack?

yes he would, we have a fairly small quarter panel and that damage isn't all that bad, just grind all the paint around the dent weld in some pins and pull it out, shrinking hammer the surrounding and bondo than glaze. it would take all about 2-3HRS to fully repair, and another 2hrs for primer to dry.
but paint for $100? Hes probably using the cheapest base coats and clear coats. I hate using cheap paint I refuse to spray anything other than Standox or PPG.

It's cool to see people using PPG coatings - I'm a hardware development engineer for them so I'm a little biased. We recently took over BMW's coatings so I thing that speaks for itself as far as quality goes.

oh yeah PPG is quality stuff. We just switched all our paints over to Standox though, and tell you the truth (no hard feelings) I'm liking this Standox a bit more, colors are almost always sprayable right out the mix, of course your always gonna have to tint whites and silvers and golds, but its not anything too crazy.

Wiring is most likely free, repair is $350 and painting all the chips and dings around the car is $100
Reason he gives my entire family good prices is because just my family alone gave him over $15,000 in damages to fix. Not to mention all the business we bring him, at least 2-3 times a month someones friend in my family hits something and we send him that way. And they always do amazing jobs lol I'll post results when he's finished

A 2002 Hummer 2, I was parked a few feet behind him and he wasn't going very fast. I saw the entire thing happen, was just in shock lol

Yeah that's exactly what he does, but he spends 1 day fixing the panel, next day entirely on paint and the 3rd day drying it out.
Idk what kind of paint he uses, but he repainted a few parts on this car before so he already has the paint from the last time (I think)

He pretty much charges us price of supplies and practically free labor

supplies to repair that quarter panel would be about $70, thats being generous and using all 3M quality materials.

No offense taken at all! PPG really shines in manufacturing processes and Standox shines in smaller applications. Different markets besides, I'm currently working in their Transitions section developing the machines that coat lenses. No real connection to the chemistry of the paint.

All I can tell you is to give the hell, but in as nice a way as possible. My '08 is in the shop right now (3 weeks and counting) for a new front bumper and hood, after a minor collision, and when the adjuster came out to see the car, I made it clear that I fully expected the car to be fixed as good as it was before the crash. Said the same thing to the body shop manager, and told them both that I'd be nothing but trouble unless the car was fixed right the first time. All in a nice way, making it clear that I was one of "those people". So far the car looks great, at least the paint on the new hood and bumper (carbon silver), and the delay has been in waiting for a new radiator from Nissan. I'd almost bet the shop could have left in the old rad, which was cracked in a place I'd never see (one of the mounts, but still water-tight), if I had been more of a push-over kind of person. Good luck with yours.
