Scared....
Hi Everyone
Knowing what you know now with all the problems reported and resales...Would you still buy a 04 or 05 Z? I really have been thinking about buying but everytime I read these posts just makes me pull back. Please let me hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Theres nothing really wrong with the 04 anymore. I wouldnt have a single worry buying an 04 Z. Infact my 04 Z was perfect, but it was totalled and I will be buying another 04 Z very soooon.
For your very first post, that really was a shatty, uniformed post. You may have been referring to the 2003 problems that occured due to the car being a first edition. All of the quarks of that year have been corrected in the 2004 model.

EVERY car is going to have problems especially the first year cars. The problem with an enthusiast site like my350z.com is that you're going to hear about every problem across the world.
Every little problem is going to be addressed and it's story amplified causing you to percieve that a certain car has major problems. Theres thousands upon thousands of Z owners with no probs at all but are they all going to chime in about it? no.
Your chances of getting a problematic 05 is just as good as getting an 04.
Good luck with your ponderance.

Id buy another Z in a second. when I bought mine the evo and STI and RX8 were nothing more than pretty pictures. now that I see them and what they can do; Id have to atleast test drive an STI. but Id still probably want the Z.
been in the shop once for the radio TSB. if thats "problems" I can handle it.

I have been on online forums for several new vehicles.
Every vehicle has problems. Every forum has complaints. Every forum has a few people on tirades "I will never buy anything ever again from brand XXXX".
Based on my experience on these types of forums I would say the Z is having fewer problems than most cars, particuarly the 2004s.
If you really want to know how good cars are compared to each other you need to go to a source that is less biased and uses actual numbers (ie. percentage of owners with problems). The best source I know of is JD Powers.
I have a 2004 roadster and so far the only problem I have is that it is too cold to put the top down.

....and also remember that late production 2003 models generally have less problem than the pre-order models. I feel really bad for some of these guys who pre-ordered because it seems Nissan did not deliver the product they advertised. The 2004 looks to be close to perfect. Resale value is above average. Overall a fine car.
Over 10,000 miles almost a year old with window streaks that windex takes care of,only took it back for oil changes.Maybe not the best car in the world but the best I've owned and I've owned many.
I have window streaks and feathering just starting @ 8,000 miles. Other that that the car is perfect. I am going to take it into the dealer soon to get it fixed. As for any problems the car is great. My car was built it 11/02 if that means anything>
