Default Help!

OK, here's the deal. I went to my dealer tonight to sign the purchase order to have my new '04 Enthusiast Z (black - auto) ordered, and the dealer offered me another model. It is an '03 Touring (blue - auto) with 880 miles on it. Apparently, some guy bought it new last summer for his 17-year-old daughter, but she was afraid to drive it so he sold it back (w/ 300 miles - the dealer manager admitted to putting the additional 600 on it). It has all options except Navigation. Dealer even has offered to throw in the full 5-year bumper to bumper warranty for no extra cost. Final cost for '04 is $29,560...'03 is $29,545

What do ou guys think? Worth it?

My only issue is that I have heard that the '03 had feathering/cupping issues. Is this true of ALL '03's? According to CARFAX, this '03 was built in May/June of 2003. Was the problem fixed on these later production models?

Thanks, all!

whats the vin numbers; just the one that would indicate when it was built.

Id be worried the guy didnt get rid of it cause it had problems.

never heard of someone being scared to drive a car... just kinda unbeleivable.

if its true; its quite a deal. but Id want to see service records on it.

My wife is afraid to drive my car, even before I put the supercharger on it, so I believe it.

Just remember that the 600 miles the dealer put on it, probably as a test driving mule, more than likely weren't the gentlest miles. Good price though.

What kind of extra options do you have on the touring?
If you want all those stuff, they get the 03.

I don't know the VIN off hand, but like I said, CARFAX indicates that it was manufactured/shipped as of 6/10/03. The were no issues w/ the car as far as CARFAX goes. I will check the service records, but according to the manager, nothing has been wrong with it.

It has all of the options minus NAV, leather, heated, power seats, and a BOSE system. It also has the VDC which the Enthusiast doesn't.

The extras are nice, but yes, I could live without them. It is a great deal, but like I said, my main concern is the tire feathering issue in the '03 models. Has it been fixed as of the May/June production runs?

Thanks all.

I'd jump on it. Even with a feathering prob its still less than you would pay for the gizmo's & gadgets... Plus you get the blue (dammit I wish I had a blue...)

Good luck. Just remember one way or another you're getting a Z. Life doesn't get better than that!

Faust- The real question here is....do YOU want the car? There both the same price, but one is a Black ent., and the other is a blue touring. Weigh the options and color's, can you live with a blue touring for how ever long you're going to keep it?
As for the '03 problems, I don't have any, and It seems NISSAN is fixing them

Good Luck.

Get the one you like better and don't worry about the miles or the issues some 03 models had. Make sure the blue one is not scratched and still has the brand new feel to it. Otherwise you'll feel like you bought a second hand car.

It does have one very minor nick right along the edge of the hatch. I pointed that out, and the dealer said they would touch it up for me. Unfortunately a test drive is out right now as we just had snow, and below zero weather has the roads covered in many areas of black ice.
