Question Any bad fuel pumps?

was at my dealership today getting an oil change. asked the guy to check out my car since it has been feeling sluggish lately. he tells me "well, there have been problems with bad fuel pumps." which was new to me. did a search on this forum but i didn't come up with anything. just wondering....

(9800 miles. air filter's good. only use 93 gas. maybe it's just time for mods )

i have to admit, i run the tank to when the light almost goes on most of the time. would cleaning the fuel injectors and changing the filter make that much of a difference at this point?

i haven't had any hissing sounds. i'm just wondering if anyone else heard of fuel pumps going bad because it was the first time i heard of it from the service guy.

Ironically I just called my local Dealer to see if they had any dead pumps because I want to tear one apart to get at the fuel pressure regulator. The Service Manager said that they had not yet replaced any pump assemblies so it must be fairly uncommon.

As for what VQ35DE asked, alot of pumps use the fuel itself to cool them so it is possible, although highly unlikely on a car this new, running on an empty tank repeatedly may shorten pump life.

I asked my dealer aobut this. The recal was done to alot of vehicles, not only the 350z. The problem was the fuel screen as what they stated to me

Thanks for all your replies

Exhaust Depot: I never heard about this recall???

Maybe I'm just looking for excuses to spend my money on my almost year old stock baby instead of other things
